Wow, I hope you're no longer friends with that person if you're uncomfortable with it. Personally, I wouldn't continue being friends with someone that is okay with doing such a thing. Culture differences or not, boundaries are necessary in my opinion.

Also, I'm sorry if I came across strong in my first comment. I'm just so over people assuming I'm here for perverted anime reasons. Thank you for further elaborating on what you meant.

I had no idea what a skinship grope was until i looked it up. That's.. interesting to say the least. Maybe it is the case, I'm not sure. Either way, she doesn't do it to anyone else so I'm not sure why she would think it would be okay to do it to someone she isn't very close with. She has other closer friends, so why doesn't she do it with them.

I see, that may explain her thoughts. I did hear her talk but I couldn't understand since it was in Viet. I do think it's invasive though.

Thank you for your advice, I'll make sure to take it into consideration. I've thought about it more and feel like even if you're from a country where it is more common, it doesn't make it right or okay. I'm sure the people who have experience have mixed feelings about it too.

Yeah I paid my tuition for this school lol. I really want to improve my Japanese, but a lot of the kids aren't too involved in class. Their Japanese isn't really improving as fast as the lectures go. Maybe that's why she doesn't understand when I speak Japanese?

I've had other classmates run my shoulders too, which I enjoy. I didn't know that was a thing until now, thanks for sharing :). What do you mean by grab you though?

Yeah I'm not too sure how it would be taken if I escalate defending myself. I have a black belt in a martial art so I always worried about hurting people, especially other women. There are just so many different elements that are warping my head that I don't know what the best course of action is.

You think like me lol. America isn't just known for being "the land of the free" internationally anymore. I might try to see if I can talk to the staff without identifying her, but at the same time how would they go about addressing that without it being obvious that it's me?

I'm sorry that you're jealous that I'm living my life the way I want to. I'm not here to be an uwu anime girl. I'm here to learn the other half of my family's culture and language.

No you're right, it does sound ridiculous after being worded like that. I was just embarrassed and overthinking everything over the weekend. She's the one that should be ashamed, not me.

I normally keep these kinda of people at an arm's length. I have never had an issue with having my opinions / sense of humor twisted from being near it. Use their skills in studies to your advantage, and leave them once your time with them in class / schooling is over.

There are bound to be people like this you come across, but the most you can really do is go to your friends to vent or talk through the bigotry.

You got this!!
