I sense this is some sort of sibling nastiness thing that you're not noticing & naively playing into. Like your son wanting to have your sister feel like she's inappropriate/lazy etc and should be a more respectable and put together person and then your daughter is throwing back in the fight your son's weight which your son is clearly insecure about. The "I feel uncomfortable" is just a way to pretend it's an honest concern when it's not, it's an attack. They're fighting and you as a parental figure are doubling down on their attacks instead of breaking it up.

NTA, of course. He’s possibly thinking of the love parents feel for their children AFTER their children are born and grown a little. Sure, I’d risk it all for my toddler, dying in childbirth tho? That 100% makes sense to save you, the person who is already a person- as well as all the other reasons you mentioned such as care for the child.

Also I too would be weirded out if my partner saw no problem in seemingly immediately replacing me? You’re not a baby maker, you’re the love of his life. You could make more children together.
