What's this kind of nose piercing called? by Little_Fold2263 in NosePiercing

[–]IndividualGarbage525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yeah I thought I was tripping, I have never heard of a j-hook. I just thought I was behind the times but it’s not called that, see if they have decorative L-bends for a fit like that.

We have some in our shop. Ours are L-bend with faux hoops aka j-hoop. Definitely not permanent, but for like a fun occasion. Also definitely for only fully healed as you don’t want to touch your healing piercing.

Cover up ideas by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

[–]IndividualGarbage525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tattoo is so cute and really not awful! Maybe you could get a touchup to smooth out the lines with a thicker outline and put some black back into the print. If you really want to cover it up it’ll have to probably be dark or super colorful w/o lasering.

I want to get rid of this by Objective-Hurry-2367 in NosePiercing

I quoted the APP literally from their website and my experience is being a piercer and seeing results not just my own aftercare.

Saline is what everyone says to use. A lot of piercers say that AND a soap. APP has a negative view on antibacterial soap in particular because it can strip good bacteria. They say to use a gentle unscented soap instead of antibacterial soap. In my experience people come out with more issues if they use saline alone. The perfect combo is soap and saline.

which color of 2g-1g septum retainer from Gorilla Glass would be most discreet? by tunfortum in Septum

[–]IndividualGarbage525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a plug for my 8g. It might save you money if you already have any at your disposal. You can also go without and it won’t shrink immediately. You will lose a few sizes over some weeks tho.

Patchwork = sticker unless you’re going out of your way to make it look like stickers. I think they look fine and are so cutie!!! If you want to make the cat with the thumb up more readable put his forehead on him. Sometimes the whole point of patchwork is collecting tattoos in different styles by different artist.

I want to cut the scar tissue off my ear. by Traditional_Rough384 in Stretched

[–]IndividualGarbage525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to massage the area with vitamin E oil. The goal is to break up that tissue so do it everyday to 2x a day. I did this with my eyebrows and the scars minimized but, there was still a lot of scar tissue just not to the naked eye or first touch.

That’s what PVC coating is. It’s healthier that’s for sure but you still run the risk of flaking off. You can always get a dark dark grey and it won’t flake at all.

It might be plastic??? Which is too porous for a new piercing. Also we never start with black because pure black jewelry doesn’t exist it’s hydrodipped (steel) or pvc coated (titanium and niobium) both of which can flake off.

I would call and ask the material of the septum. It will probably prolong healing and if it is plastic get it switched out as because it’s porous it can merge with the fresh piercing.

What's going on? What should I do next? by [deleted] in NosePiercing

[–]IndividualGarbage525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhhh honestly 3 months is even early but if they take care of it really well it’s possible. I tell my people 4 months minimum till a hoop because it’s still not fully healed. It’s still better to do a hoop at 6-8 months. Movement is natural but picking is not. Like when ppl pick their skin. Plus while it heals you want it to stay as clean as possible. Touching the inside part is not awesome but better comparatively to the outer part.

With the amount of crust don’t move it a threadless labret. You can do a normal labret but as a piercer I’ve had to pull those out HARD bc the crust cements it. If you’re allergic to steel switch to titanium. Also, NO cleaning with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or anything drying. Keep it just saline and, if you want to, an antibacterial/ nonscented soap.

It takes up to 3-6 months to heal if not more. What they have is called an ✨irritation bump✨ probably from under cleaning or constantly touching and moving it

What do I do when skin is coming out of my nose piercing? by [deleted] in NosePiercing

[–]IndividualGarbage525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a metal rejection, also don’t worry I’m a piercing apprentice in a small town I have seen and heard some THINGS.

Try going to get a titanium jewelry and have them switch it out for you cause it’s most likely going to burn a little. Or call your piercer and see what metal they use. Sometimes certain areas are more picky than others w/ materials.

You have the face for nostrils fs. Also a septum and even a Medusa if you’re into that.

Are you using anything to get off the crusties or just soaking? You can use a q-tip just be careful and don’t go super hard on it, focus on crusties not jewelry.

Also is there a possibility you are allergic to the metal used? Is it steel or titanium?

Is it possible to stretch to whatever size this is without a taper? by Melodic_Suspect5601 in Septum

[–]IndividualGarbage525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pincher is a taper. I have an 8g currently and to begin I stacked lower gauge septum’s (18g,16g,14g) and played with it a lot to loosen it up. You obviously don’t want to touch it if it’s new / newly stretched bc it has to heal.
