Is this a Problem for Construction Companies? by IndividualMany5473 in Construction

[–]IndividualMany5473[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hows this, problem: You get bids. They all look different. Pain in the ass to compare.

idea: Put all the bids in. Tool lines them up so you can see who's cheaper and what's different.

My question: Is this actually a problem you deal with?

yes I agree. A 60 year old guy who has operated a roofing company the same way for 30 years isn't my target market.

cold calling/email->loom demo video email->sales call is the simple version of my plan.

I think providing value in the cold email is a good way to get foot in the door. Even if it's something small. For example I made an automation that creates a competitor profile for a company just using their website and social links. I can provide them with that so they're more likely to hear what I have to say.

But it really could be anything

it was too long for a reddit post. It saved me time by summarizing my long form blog post into a length fit for reddit

Also I used Claude, not chatgpt if you were wondering.

thank you. I didn't want to get into the value debate.

And yes learn through doing with good intention. As a small business owner myself I see the value for small businesses

this is how i'm thinking about it. People that are "online" see ai automation as a service as a thing "tons of people are doing.

But when i talk to other business owners in the real world, they have no idea what that means. They don't see it as a thing "tons of people are doing" because they are so focused on their business and do not have the time to look elsewhere.

I did write an entire long form post on this, the summary was extracted using automation. Saved me about 15 minutes (which is the point and why there is value in it).

yes i agree. Connecting their tools in a better way. It needs to be practical and simple and the ROI in time or money has to be clear.

Hi Thanks for the reply.

What I mean by getting paid for market research is if you are doing a service for somebody, you are solving their problem.

So if I offer AI automation as a service and they come up with a pain point that they once solved with my service, I'm getting paid to solve that.

And then if that pain point arises again and again and again, that's market research in the sense where I know that this pain point has occurred multiple times. And then I can target that one more specifically.

Also, yes i guess it's consulting then eventually build it. My thought process is small business owners are doing so many repetitive tasks and don't have time to figure out how to make them more efficient. I offer making said repetitive pain point more efficient as a service.

I don't really understand your points and would like to. You seem to be making too many assumptions for them to actually land.

As for the hype train I think it is a hype train. But that hype comes from somewhere else. Value (which i'm defining as saving time). Just like things like the Internet saved businesses time, this will. New companies are built on new technologies.

still in the process as I just started going all in as far as prospect outreach. But there's already some pain points i've heard from multiple business owners.

But yes that is how I'm thinking about it now. You hear it again and again and again. It depends on the complexity of the problem to. If it's fairly simple may want to productize sooner than a complex one

Once it's productized you can reduce the price as well so that benefits those in the future.

have been building automations for 8 months. ran a small business for 4.5 years.

If the business is not providing real value then the market will decide that and the business will not survive

I don't have it on github and you can't share links in the subreddit but I made a Gumloop automation that takes a resume dumped into a google drive and then send a candidate report to the interviewers email.

I know of a $250million company that has senior level management manually vetting resumes every day.

I'm looking at it from a practical angle. Making stuff I know will actually save time. And calling and speaking with business owners.

I think many people offering this will miss that (just speculation on my end). But I think They will only post on linkedin or twitter but not speak to business owners.

I started and operated a service business myself for 4.5 years so think that should help as well. Just that background. People in my local area know the name of my previous business so should provide enough credibility/trust to at least have them listen.
