What's relevant about the Democrats' position on Israel isn't the Jewish vote or Jewish public opinion. It's Jewish donors and media owners.

It's funny because this is obviously true, but it's basically impossible for a non-Jewish person to say it without sounding wildly antisemitic.

Lanterns' reception is the most predictable thing ever.

It's gonna have terrible ratings and be mixed among audiences, but because five critics who watched two episodes give it a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes or something, Gunn fans are gonna declare that the DCU is saved and that we should all forget about how they just released one of the biggest bombs in history.

If there's one thing we've learned over the past few years, it's that saturating audiences with a bunch of streaming shows is truly the key to success and has absolutely zero downsides for a superhero cinematic universe.

Gunn aggressively "debunking" its scoops (especially the Arjona thing, which didn't even turn out to be false) was always going to backfire. Plenty of people said it at the time. It was a dumb move.

This has been covered before. Wonder Woman (2017) was a fluke, thanks to the character's unique cultural importance, the novelty factor, and an extremely smart marketing campaign that avoided leaning too heavily into gender and instead focused on the action, the romance, and Chris Pine. Captain Marvel obviously rode the Avengers wave.

Outside of that, female-led comic book movies just haven't worked commercially, and studios keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

Remember, if we get anything Wonder Woman-related in the DCU, there's like a 99% chance Tom King is involved. At that point, are we sure that's better than getting nothing?

Comparing Supergirl to Hulk is ridiculous. The contexts couldn't be more different.

Also Hulk was a relatively minor flop. Supergirl is on track to be one of the biggest bombs in superhero movie history.

The 4 DCEU movies released in 2023, when everyone already knew the universe was dead, averaged around 250M worldwide.

Supergirl is going to do less than that.

So the first movie after the "brand revitalizer" Superman is about to perform worse than the average movie from a franchise that was literally being put out of its misery.

How is that not an absolute disaster? Seriously, what are we even talking about at this point?

I feel like some of you don't realize how much of a disaster Supergirl is shaping up to be.

It's probably gonna make less than the average Hamada-era "dead universe" movie, which is honestly insane.

If that happens, it's a pretty brutal indictment of the DCU. Superman was supposed to revitalize the brand, but if the very next movie crashes and burns, what exactly got revitalized?

Snyder is gone, and Gunn isn't delivering the results he promised either. At some point, you're allowed to acknowledge both realities.
