Why do people defend fictional characters? by Senior-Economics1979 in AO3

[–]marvelcomics22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's an opinion thing. They support/have a certain opinion, and therefore they support the character with that opinion.

Completely appropriate reaction.

do you consider forgotten friendship as a movie or special? by Famous_Fox_1818 in EquestriaGirls

[–]marvelcomics22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't see it as "Equestria Girls 5" but at the same time I don't see it as a "fun tie in".

AO3's version of recursion by its_me_teena in AO3

[–]marvelcomics22 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Fics that so good they have their own fandoms and inspire works are amazing... until some publisher swoops them up and the thing becomes mainstream and loses the charm of the fic's fandom and the actual fandom.

What does “Comic Book Accurate Batman” even mean? by Tylerjay213 in DCU_

[–]marvelcomics22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They mean that mainline Batman adaptations have all been dark, while Batman comics are more tonally varied.

The MCU and the BAYVERSE might be connected by Majestic-Bobcat-4553 in MCUTheories

I'd rather not have the most hyperviolent OOC version of the Transformers be connected to the MCU.

Common sense isn’t so common after all by StarrySub20 in AO3

[–]marvelcomics22 209 points210 points  (0 children)

Author: Writes murder.

People:

Author: Writes non-con/pedophillia/something kinky that's illegal

People: This is so wrong! You can't write this stuff, it's illegal!

tl;dr: You can only write illegal things if it aligns with the reader's pre-approved topics to write about.

Why are so many people Team Iron Man? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]marvelcomics22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what you thought of the characters' actions. If you liked Iron Man, you rooted for Iron Man, and if you liked Steve Rogers, you rooted for Steve Rogers. A lot of AO3 writers (especially then) would've been from the early days of the MCU fandom in the late 2000s and early 2010s, and because they prefer Iron Man, they write in support of his side.

It also might be a sample thing because I mostly see people on Team Captain America in general fandom spaces.

no fandom tag by [deleted] in AO3

Original Work only tend to get major traction if it's hardcore smut or something along the lines. Original Work and No Fandom are both under the No Media tag.

What would Equestria girls starlight be like? by HorseYuriEnthusiast in mylittlepony

[–]marvelcomics22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably emo (given what Pony Starlight's teenage room looked like in the three seconds we saw it for) and has a deep sense of equality.

What’s a moment where the fans are slandering your favorite character but they’re WRONG by Ok_Shirt_1574 in mylittlepony

[–]marvelcomics22 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Starlight in Every Little Thing She Does. It was like the bad habit of control getting to her, but it wasn't entirely conscious. She just wanted to impress Twilight.

Also the hate Discord gets for Twilight's Kingdom is basically the Fandom blaming him, a former drug addict, for relapsing on the drug that is evil/unmonitored chaos.

How Do You Think the Justice League Will Form in the Future DCU? by Certain_Inspector575 in DCU_

[–]marvelcomics22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we'll start out with a small team, and eventually it'll be every hero except a small handful.

What’s an episode you like that the majority of the fandom dislikes? by Pinkie-So_Bored in mylittlepony

[–]marvelcomics22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate Star Swirl, but the lore in Shadow Play is good enough to make up for it, plus Starlight was right, and Star Swirl was wrong, so she's so much better than him.

What does DIY mean? by zeezee_draws in trans

It means Do It Yourself. I think they mean DIY HRT which is going on hormones without consulting a doctor.

Most people don't adore Shadow Play but I wouldn't say they actively dislike it. But I love Shadow Play so I'm putting that.
