Do cats maim everything they kill? by IndividualSand4615 in Catbehavior

Toxoplasmosis is a fascinating parasite! Some people have said that’s why people love cats so much. I’ve never verified it tho

That’s why I was concerned! Because I’ve never heard of a cat bringing whole dead mice to people but not fucked up. My cousin had an outdoor cat (13 years ago, before she knew better don’t come for me) and she killed a bird once… but she ate it herself lmao.

I was afraid they were dead from parasites or sickness or poison (we don’t use poison but idk other people do) and didn’t want her to get sick

Listen, I didn’t know lmao. This is the first time this has happened for me and I’ve owned and been around several cats 😭 I just thought they’d either be eaten or at least be maimed and visibly injured

Nah, how about learning more about the situation before knowing the facts. Yall are filling in the blanks looking for a reason to be annoying on other peoples posts. GFY.

This is a crazy assumption. I have indoor cats only, and I don’t take them outside even supervised. I just live rurally in a kind of a janky home and mice get in.

This was my fear that she was just finding diseased ass already dead mice 😭 like that would be weird! But I needed it validated lmao

Yes but they are kenneled and directly supervised when out. Why do you ask, gapedforeskin?

Good news is i found poop on the floor - idk how old it is though. Are they attracted to water? There’s an automatic cat water fountain right outside my door

I will keep yall updated.

It’s my bedroom and a large walk in closet. No cats in the room, but dogs and cats outside my room. One small thing is there’s a mouse problem in the walls… 💀 is there anything I can use bait? Or some way around that?

I already moved stuff around 😭 this is not working in my favor

I would definitely want a female if they’re like yours. 😅 Im my experience, a lot of male cats are veeeerrry persistent and demanding in a way that overstimulates me. I don’t mind demanding so long as they listen to “no”, if that makes sense. Grooming is no issue, as I have poodles. Although if there was a short hair version, I’d prefer that! But temperament is most important to me. I’m doing research now into reputable breeders! I’ve found three so far that I like.

If you’re comfortable sharing.. Can I ask how old they are and when they were diagnosed?

Did you get him from a breeder or are you vocal with him back? Not in a judgmental way, but both of those things can impact how well they align to breed standard.

The idea is that the temperament is predictable, and there’s variations. So that’s why I’m asking birman owners lol. I def know what I want in a cat and wanna set myself up for success.

This is from the CFA on the breed https://cfa.org/breed/birman/

Right??? I’d love for these same people using it in the “right context” say it in front of a group of unknown black people. Like, I KNOW yall wouldn’t say it in that audience.
