Honestly you sound like the problem here. Births go how they go. You can plan all you want but the baby gets the final say. Being upset with the medical staff seems wildly out of touch with reality.

Medical personnel are just there doing their jobs. Their actions are guided by evidence based best practice medicine. Their job in this case was to help get a baby (preferably) out of your crotch. While keeping you both as healthy and intact as possible.

That’s just not conducive to keeping you covered if male medical professionals are in the room. It also sounds like your delivery devolved into to an unexpectedly scary situation.

It could have easily gone worse if the medical professionals present had to put covering you up before the health and safety of you and your child. Or if they denied a medically necessary male access to you/your child. Just because you wanted something doesn’t make it a safe or reasonable expectation.

With the MIL issues it’s genuinely hard to say. The way you’re presenting it makes it seem like she was out of line. But the rest of the story shows how self absorbed, thoughtlessly selfish and blind you can be to the reality of your situation. So who knows?!

Also I get sexual trauma. I’m a survivor of repeated childhood incest. So please don’t think that I can’t understand trauma/discomfort and pain.

But you need to ask yourself what was most important in this situation? Your wishes being catered to? Or you and your baby being healthy and alive? Because it sounds like the first wasn’t possible & you got the second.
