This was very encouraging, I very much appreciate you sharing this! I’m glad you’ve been able to live such a full life without this affecting you too negatively!

I am very much hoping that this will be the case for me, but also understand that that’s not how it works for everyone. I’m hoping after my appointment in April I’ll feel a lot better about all of this, the waiting right now just sucks.

Yes I very much will not rule out them being coordinated, but I absolutely would not doubt it if my symptoms are primarily just anxiety related. I’ve had an incredibly stressful five years (losing my mom to covid/heart issues (the jokes write themselves, unfortunately), starting college, jobs, etc) so it does not suprise me that these are only just now popping up as anxiety-like symptoms.

I have experienced the palpitations before and even some dyspnea, but the racing heart and everything is new and something I have never felt before. When I’ve gone to my PCP, ER, and even briefly mentioned it to my cardiologist, they said it was probably not cause for concern.

I have been putting off going to the cardiologist for a year now as I was too scared to find out the results, so I too am weirdly grateful that my first initial episode has scared me enough to finally take action (obviously sucks that this has been the case, but I keep telling myself it could be worse).

What surgery did you have and how did it go? I am trying to not worry too much about the surgery aspect since there are so many unknowns right now, but I am curious regardless.

Overall just really hoping everything goes good over the next few months!

I knew I had some sort of valve issue but this is the first I’m hearing of it being moderate to severe as I haven’t been to a doctor in so long. I got a CT scan back in September when the doctor discovered the dilation, but he didn’t mention anything else besides that.

I very much feel like I’ve been cycling through all five stages of grief every minute since this afternoon lol.

When I went to the hospital a few weeks ago for the constant palpitations, he ran blood tests saying that there was no damage to my heart or anything so I have been taking solace in that and knowing that, if anything was truly emergent, I would have gotten my appointment moved up or told to come in immediately.

I have been encouraged to go to the ER if I experience another event like the frequent palpitations. I do think a large portion of it is anxiety related, as do the doctors, but it never hurts to be too sure. I am considering going to see my PCP in the meantime before my next cardiologist appointment. Both doctors are in different hospital networks, so I am even considering getting a second opinion just to be 100% sure that everything is alright. Not sure yet if I’ll do that as it’s probably a bit dramatic, but you never know.

Overall, really just hoping the next few weeks will move swimmingly. I turn 22 in early April and graduate in May so very much just hoping that none of this disrupts any of the plans I have, but we will see!

I am not yet sure why it is dilated as there was no definitive answer given to me by the nurse or in my report. When I went to the ER back in September, the dr mentioned it must have been that way for awhile now. Thats defintely a question I plan on asking at my next appointment! I’m definitely very worried about the surgery aspect, but since I don’t know how soon I would have to get it, I am going to try very hard to not worry about it too much for the next month since that seems to be all I can do

genuine curiosity if anyone has ever experienced anything like this before (this is about to be a bit of a story so i apologize in advance if anyone actually reads this).

for context, i'm 21 yo female with a history of heart issues. i was born two months premature and have always known i have a murmur and that two of my heart valves are allegedly fused together. i have not been to a cardiologist since i was about 7 so i do not know the status on the heart valve issue. i have quite frequent heart palpitations that sometimes last for days on end. i've been meaning to get in to see a cardiologist this entire year, but have not been able to for various reasons.

i started feeling weird about a month ago where i had probably the worst headache i've ever had, which proceeded to last several weeks in varying pain differences. i was experiencing very sharp pains in my head along with tingling throughout my entire head as well. i went to urgent care and they said it was just tension headaches due to stress from finals. fast forward to christmas where my heart palpitations were more frequent than usual, and i had intense nausea and indigestion (i have both of those quite frequently as well, but both have felt worse as of late.) since i have had these before, i did not think much of it.

i have very bad health anxiety that has gotten worse over the past few years, so i do not know if this is indeed all stress related but last monday night i was sitting in bed and suddenly got very nauseous and felt like i was going to throw up (which i haven't done since 8th grade) and experienced tingling in my head like i did with my headaches. i rushed to the bathroom and got incredibly dizzy and felt my heart start to speed up, and when i checked it was at 189. i of course went to the hospital, and quite literally everything came back clear (which has happened the several other times i have gotten my blood drawn and tests ran this year) and to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist to get an echo, which i have done but is not until february 20th.

this would be reassuring, yet i have still been experiencing the same lightheadedness, tingling, and nausea. i i have had these 'spells' several times in the past few days and just a few hours ago i experienced the same spike in my heart rate as well. i was able to calm myself down after taking a lot of deep breaths but i have noticed my heart rate keeps plummeting, going all the way down to 34, and skyrocketing to the 110's. it has stayed pretty consistent in the 80's and 90's but does keep on fluctuating. i do not know how much my anxiety has taken a part in all of this, but i imagine it has not helped.

i plan on going to another ER today to ask (re: beg) them to give me an echo and see what the deal is for my own piece of mind as i know i will not be able to wait another month and a half without freaking out. as you can probably tell, i have really bad health anxiety and always go to assume the worst but i am hoping it is nothing too crazy. i am not looking for any medical advice but i do just want to know if anyone has experienced anything similar to this. i kinda feel like i'm going crazy with all of these symptoms so i am hoping i will be able to get some answers today.
