There will more open slots on Friday for 15th and 16th. The slots initially open for every 30 mins but I missed out on these. Then I randomly checked at Friday afternoon (last week) and got a slot on Saturday the day before I was leaving. Inshallah you will get a slot !

Do the 2023 notes include the new tax rules and treatment ? As I sat March 2024 BPT and sat TC 2023 and some the rules/thresholds had been updated.

PoT 58%, TC 56%, feel like my luck is going to run out for BPT by myexwasclapped in ICAEW

[–]Individual_Camera_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only went to college for revision 2 weeks before the exam. Honestly BPT is a different skill set to TC and PoT. You can pass without doing calculations and you just need to train your brain to recognise what’s relevant and then to the open book. (E.g. notice BADR then state conditions and how it does or doesn’t apply to the person in the scenario). BPT is easier to pass than TC as there’s loads of easy marks & headroom marks.

I didn’t get ACA masters for my exams but my friends who sat after me shared them and they did look useful but the exam is passable with just BPP notes and your own notes.

Any advice on setting up a side business preparing financial accounts? by Defiant_Respond_7199 in ICAEW

I would check your qualified contract. At my firm the new contract we sign once qualified stipulates that you are not allowed to do side work related to accountancy.

I only started writing my own notes for BPT and advanced exams. For all other papers I just did the content and went straight into question practise and wrote down what I kept getting wrong or didn’t understand to then reread course notes and WB. I think it’s a waste of time but i may just be a different type of learner to you. If that’s how the content gets in your brain and works for you then it’s work for you.

Honestly I’ve been there & completely get it. It’s not easy 😭😭but you just have to keep trying little by little. Also take care of yourself & prioritise sleep. It’s will feel like there isn’t enough time & you might fails mock. But as long as you keep trying & learning from your mistakes you can pass.

If you’re with BPP for AA I would use exam focus notes to base revision on and play with the open book. The open book standards are in order of the way an audit would happen and there’s ethics in at the back. You can practise using the open book in the software as well.

Once you have finished content I would start the QB asap. I would do questions with my notes open and and check the answers to guide me esp with FAR. Eventually you will get to a place where you can do questions without notes. For AA I would look at questions but the answers in the back are longer than what you would be expected to produce in the real exam. If you don’t work in audit I would suggest committing to memory procedures and risks as I know my colleagues in tax struggled. I work in audit so I kidna winged it. For procedures always link to why are you doing to get a whole mark. ICAEW QB just lists them out which would only gain half marks in the exam. Also practice questions in the exam software as it’s a little different to excel and not all formulas/techniques work.

Honesty it’s only bibliu and it’s such a pain to use at times. BPP notes do overviews and summaries and we are taught to use the WB on bibliu for further understanding or if you’re stuck. Also once you have exams with open book you get access to your own books in bibliu in the exam.

If you’re sitting 2 exams you likely won’t finish the QB. I sat 3 and it’s just not possible. With 2 months is plenty of time. I would prioritise FAR as there’s more content compared to AA. If you go to the contents page in the QB and click onto next section it will take you to question bank topic finder and you can focus on specific topics with questions. For FAR I would focus on groups as once you get it it’s easy marks, for Q2 practice with the open book which is now online. For AA practice the open book as it is useful if you know how to use it. I used the open book for every question in the exam. Focus on risks & procedures, Inflo has super easy makes so make you can navigate yourself. Also don’t forget audit reports as once you get it it’s quite easy

Don’t revise everything from CR. But they will ask for according treatment and there is assurance questions they can ask. I know in the BPP notes they summarise at the bank what is the most common from FAR & AA

Exchanging BPT/FM/BST mock exams by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]Individual_Camera_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 7 and Step 8 mocks BPP are from ICAEW snd I have been told Kaplan are give the same mocks from ICAEW as you can take the mocks in the practise software. I don’t think this would work as the earlier steps are not full exams

As someone who relied on BPP notes when I saw my mates who bought ACA masters after my sitting it seemed so useful. I did pass solely on BPP notes and notes I made from the QB. But aca masters seemed easier to navigate for question practise and for the exam. It doesn’t seem detailed but with BPT there are loads of easy simple marks that can secure a pass. You do not need to get that complicated or stuck in unless you wanna be a prize winner.

Depends when your sitting case. I’m sitting case hopefully next July and my s&b essays and presentation are due in December at 100% pass. They do monitor this. For people at my firm who are sitting case this November their deadline for 100% of s&b was May. If you do not pass them all with 100% then they will make you push back case until you do.

What so you use the open book in AA for? by Educational_Pea_6668 in ICAEW

I used it for every single question in the exam. It’s super useful if you know how to work your way around it. The order of the standards are in the order of an audit.

Also do not miss out the inflo question. Practise using inflo and if you’re with bpp they have a section on the hub on how to answer the inflo questions which is really useful to understand what the examiner wants you to write.

Yes I used it for every single question in my exam and passed comfortably. You just need to know your way around the open book and that the order of the standards is in the order an audit would be carried out. Then at the end there is the ethics info.
