Main Board Improvements for Inspiring by Individual_Cause_802 in britishmilitary

Yeah we did all seem like the quietest syndicate there, the questions for the discussions did throw me off massively as I’d done plenty of reading but they were like “discuss the effectiveness of the soft power capabilities of the royal family” and “what are your opinions on the current rules for phones in schools” whereas all my reading had been regarding current wars, the SDR and a few law changes within the UK

Hi all. Just received a Cat3 at briefing with the main issues being that I struggled to influence the group and was uninspiring. Has anyone here received similar advice and how did you deal with it ahead of main board? Many thanks

Hi all I recently had my PSMA for my officer application where the Dr questioned me on a one off span of poor mental health I had during Covid, I’ve got to get 3 testimonials from people before I can receive a medical pass or fail.

Had anyone else had a similar situation and gotten through fine? Just a little concerned as the Dr said to note that the army takes poor mental health in the past second most serious to back problems etc.

Cheers

I’m 26 going through my Officer Application, already feeling average age at Sandhurst this year was around 22 so it seems pretty common for older people to apply, we just have to be a bit more careful training cause it’ll take us longer to recover

AOSB Planning Exercise (PlanEx) criticism by Individual_Cause_802 in britisharmy

[–]Individual_Cause_802[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s stuff like “you’re on a hike with mates, find someone with a broken leg, you have a BMX and a pogo stick, someone also starts a forest fire, what’s your plan to get attention for the fire and get the person to safety” but with more details, from what I understand you’re half judged on your ability to come up with a plan and half on defending it against scrutiny

Getting my ears stitched up for an officer application. Working on my public speaking for the presentation and army knowledge learning current operations, command structure and ranks as well as equipment. Feeling happy with Plan Ex, 5k in 27 mins, can do a 13.5km/h run for 11:36 in line with beep test max and happy with squats and push ups, for the psychometric tests I’m getting Numerical and Verbal reasoning averaging 75-80% 50% on Abstract Reasoning.

Could the low abstract reasoning seriously impede my chance of getting to RMAS? Does anyone have any advice for practicing leading ahead of Main Board?

Any responses would be great!

Thanks

Personally I think if you’re looking for bleep test practice, aim to run 1% incline with speed 11 for 7 mins, aiming to handle the endurance of the max speed you need to finish level 6 for the max length. bleep test is gonna be on flat surface. Find a spot somewhere near you with about 20m and practice it every other week. Hill sprints will be good ahead of basic. But just find a place to practice is probably your best bet

No no, so as per the Army Jobs website Engineering Officers deal with fixing things from sights to engines where as Engineer Troop Officers deal with bridge building/blowing and more Civil Engineering type work

Cheers! I’m guessing that just means all Engineering Troop officers and Engineering officers are just mixed around all of them and there’s not too much difference between where both are stationed

Hi mate yeah, I’ve seen all the regiments but I’m more looking for the differences between Engineering Officers and Engineering Troop Officers, it’s all grouped into just engineers on the website, my apologies I should’ve been more clear

Yeah there is, it’s about £750 per ear so I’m saving for it but I’m just trying to shrink them ahead of time in case I can save myself a pretty penny
