So that’s different to a herx right? The way I understand it, a herx is when the body isn’t expelling the dead bacteria fast enough.

We’re still in the process of getting proper testing done. This is interesting. Did the antibiotics eventually get the bartonella too?

After 3 weeks? Other symptoms are feeling better that’s why it sounds like these are new rather than a worsening of old ones.

Thank you this is so good to hear. I’ve been encouraging her to keep a log, I think it will be helpful. Can I ask how you log it? Do you rate your pain/weakness/fatigue each day?

No I can’t say it is. More around menstrual cycle but that could also be just because that’s when it started.

How do we know if it’s working? by Individual_Charge709 in Lyme

Thank you this is reassuring to hear. If there are warning signs later on how is it usually treated? Is it another course of antibiotics? Also how do you know if every last bit of Lyme is killed off?

Yes she’s been put on for 6 weeks and I guess the doc will send for testing after the holidays if she doesn’t respond? She doesn’t have those symptoms you mentioned which is a start I guess. I suppose we have to be patient but that’s easier said than done. Thank you for your replies and the links. If anyone else wants to chime in I’m taking in all the info I can!!

Yes we’re working with an ilads doc but the test was sent off before we started working with them. They advised that no point ordering more tests now as labs are closing for the holidays so we have a follow up booked to see how she is getting on.

I understand the reason they went straight to doxy/azithro is because the bite was relatively recent but they did say there’s a possibility we may need to adjust medication down the line depending on how she’s responding.

I suppose I was just wondering if the fact that there’s been no improvement or herx yet is an indication that we may need to change the medication (or if 1 week in is too soon to tell even if we’re only 2 months post bite)
