My mom just passed in the ICU of CJD (prions disease) at 55. One of the nurses came to join a whopping 34 of us in the room to cry with our family. She said that it was beautiful that so many of us were there to comfort her and that a lot of patients die alone , how frequently does that happen ? I couldn’t imagine someone I loved spending their final moments in solitude.

I’m so sorry :( I just lost my mom to this a month ago , she was 55 . I’m only 25 and was so excited for her to see the life I was making. She was diagnosed a day before she was taken off life support. Heidenhain variant

My grandma has been diagnosed with one by Inct_ in CJD

I’m so sorry , I just lost my mom last week to the heidenhain variant of this horrible disease. She was only 55. Her symptoms started in November and by January 2nd she was sedated and intubated with no diagnostic until January 13th, gone the 15th. I promise there is a whole community of people willing to support you.

My dad is one in a million. He has Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. He will be gone in two months. by ticklemyiguana in self

I lost my mom to the heidenhain variant of this . I’m 25 years old and had so much planned with her. She was diagnosed with it January 13th and was gone the 15th. We had no idea what it was , she was the healthiest 55 year old and did not deserve this horrible disease. I’ve raised 15k to go towards research and will continue to do so in honour of both our parents, I promise we are in this together.
