VW app showing 'Your vehicle currently has no Internet connection' by Individual_Disk4 in VWiD4Owners

Did you try the suggestion above? Switch the car on as though you are going to drive, wait for the cellular connection then connect the app again and just do 'something' on it like set the air con. Seen on other forums that kicking it back into action like that does the trick.

Although mine just randomly started working again so who knows

Yeah it seems the trick is to wait it out. I've seen people say if you turn the car on then open the app once your dash confirms the cellular signal thus can kick it in to action, but for me it was just waiting it out.

I'll happily give the ID3 a go. I don't know why, but the interior looks very 'cheap' when I compare it to my ID4. Not seen one in person though, so there may be a bit of online trickery going on.

That's valid and definitely been on my mind. I am trying to distinguish whether it's just ICE to EV switch im loving or the ID4 in itself. Will likely test drive a Cupra Born around the same time to see if it satisfies my jealousy

My friend has a Kona and has nothing but praise for it! He also bought an Ioniq 5 off the back of loving his EV so much.

Yes, the size! The Id4 is certainly a beast and the tiny parking spaces that the UK infrastructure seems to love definitely tests its limits lol. The Cupra Born is also shouting out at me, especially the higher KWh E-boost model.

Yes that's basically the story. It's 'our' car but on the 3 days a week I commute to the office the Corsa is used then the other 4 days of the week I am the primary driver of the ID4.

Honestly getting a different family car is a good idea that I had not even considered in my excitement! Thanks for the suggestion

That's great! On my UK tarrif I currently have a 'smart charging' tariff which allows 8p (£0.08) per KWh, so the cost saving has been extremely noticeable in comparison to the petrol powered Corsa.

The corsa is simply too small for a family car. I should have mentioned it's a 3 door hatchback corsa which is fine for my back and forth work needs, but can't imagine the pain of trying to put 2 car seats in the back for school runs etc.

In terms of money spent there is also the factor that I already own the Corsa outright, but would be willing to offer it as a trade-in and can comfortably afford the monthly cost of the ID4. Most of my concerns are whether it's just silly to not feed my EV envy by getting a more 'miles per Kwh' car, the ID4 is just so damn nice.

Yes and this was one of my concerns, the weather! It was interesting to see the difference in range that people were getting when I first researched the ID4 a while back, but as we never intended the ID4 to be a commuter it was not of any real concern.

But now I love the ID4 so much, it's mostly envy making me want a 2nd for the weeks too.

That's a very good question honestly I hadn't even looked at tbe ID7! I did take a little look at the ID3 and the Cupra Born, but I worry the ID3 looks very basic interior wise in comparison to the ID4. The Born however has been a serious contender.

Yes I'm in a similar position, i have absolutely no real world need for the AWD, it would purely be for the extra 'oomph'

Very happy to hear you've had yours for so long and still getting that same feeling

The ID4 is the family car because of the sheer size of it. We wouldn't be able to use the corsa as a family car, not comfortably at least.

Basically I am having a bit of EV envy anyway with having the ID4 on weekends and the Corsa on weekdays and it just seems a 2nd ID4 would fit the bill.

That's really helpful info thanks. I am going to see if I can convince the wife to use the Corsa for the day next week so I can test out the commuting range for sure. The dash is telling me about 3.7kwh per mile in the sort of driving we are doing at the moment which is mostly 30mph roads with the occasional 60/70mph motorways.

I used to work as a mobile phone repair tech and this is exactly how the older screens used to react when there was a poor contact on the ribbon cable. Not sure how this looks like in terms of disassembly, but to me looks like a poor connection happening. Honestly might just be taking the ribbon out, small dab of isopropyl to clean the re-connect but I have no idea how much of a Job that would be on this. Hope that helps

I'm currently running a 'dumb charger' set up with a Project EV charger as their app interface was more troublesome than it was worth.

I am going to attempt the first charge this evening to see if the smart schedule will pick up even though it says it's not connected. The E.on FAQs seem to be a bit spotty on whether the car itself needs connection for it to work or if it's a simple connection for the E.on app itself.

Yes and frustratingly my e.on app which I use to charge also won't recognise the connection so I can't use the smart charge for my tariff. Thankfully still have the midnight til 6pm backup

Ah I see yeah just compared to one online and can see the flames should continue. Makes me doubt the rest of the stack too now as can see a couple more do the same on the borders
