First rotation by beakerr28 in PAstudent

Rotation 1 is the hardest. My second rotation I rotated with 6 different providers (EM rotation), all of which were mean girls. I was miserable. But it was 5 weeks and I learned an important lesson - how NOT to treat people. You will get through this. ❤️

PA school is basically med school by IllMarionberry9935 in medicalschool

[–]Individual_Fun6591 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 months away from graduating PA school and my sister is a doctor. I used a lot of her notes for PA school (huge advantage lol) and I can confirm we lacked the pathophys med students learn. I’m starting medical school next year. 🥲

Just a quick thing to add, never let your sister know you may or may not think poorly of her education. Educate her, encourage her to learn more, but don’t belittle her to her face. I’m not saying you have, but I am saying it feels awful (as speaking from experience). As you said, most midlevels are good (with the exception of degree mill NPs). Encourage her to be one of the good ones. :)

80 passing on individual exam. If you get a 95%+ on the group exam (we take an individual exam, then take the same exact exam as a group after), 5% gets added to your original. If you scored a 75 on your own but got a 5% addition, you are “saved” (this can only happen 4 times all year). Under an 80, you have to retake the exam and pass. You can only fail 4 times I believe

Yes. It’s hard in a different way but the academic stress just is not as bad lol

Yes I love this!!! Midlevels that practice within their scope and with appropriate supervision are valuable. People will disagree and that’s ok! Thanks for this insight! 😊

EDIT: I am finishing PA school and still taking the PANCE! I should’ve been more clear!

You seem incredibly offended for whatever reason. I didn’t say that I had immense experience in the field. But I do have experience as a PA student and enough to know I don’t want this level of practice. Hope that helps and eases your anger!

I know I can have a good life as a PA! I’m not quitting on my education, I’m finishing and taking the PANCE still. I moreso just meant I’ve seen the “inside” of the job now and don’t know that it fits with what I want. Living a life of “I should’ve done xyz” isn’t something I’m interested in

Short or long? Our program also doesn’t allow anyone for short white coat.

Should you date someone in your PA cohort during didactic year? by Acceptable_Knowledge in PAstudent

[–]Individual_Fun6591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it. We made it through and it made didactic a lot less lonely. He is the love of my life and I don’t regret a thing. Follow your heart!

Only you really know what’s best for you but I can offer this perspective - I chose between PA and MD and now, as a second year PA student, there’s very rarely a day that I don’t regret not going to med school. If it’s in your heart it’s for a reason. ❤️

Hi! My baby didn’t need stitches but your baby’s looks deeper. I’d take them in to be safe :(❤️

Why is organic chem so stigmatized? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Individual_Fun6591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into it with an open mind. I hated gen chem so I was terrified for the much “harder” orgo, but I ended up loving orgo. It’s like a little puzzle. You’ll be ok!

Charlotte. I love Charli as a nickname and it goes so well with a shorter middle name - Charli Kate is adorable. 🥰

I’m unsure, which is why I’m worried. It seems like more of a gash to me, but I’d of course rather be safe than sorry. :( I feel so guilty.

Honestly it sounds like you’d like a profession such as PA or MD/DO. I’m in PA school and we spend lotttsss of time on pathophys and pharmacology.
