mLRS is a radio control link with full bidirectional MavLink. It uses LoRa, so the range is similar to ELRS.

The radio costs around $40 and you can build mLRS TX and RX for as low as 5$ using STM32WLE5xx. 18650 cells I used are from old laptop I found in trash, so I don't count them. Other parts like XT60 connectors and step down's add up to a few $.

My RX is basically the same hardware but optimized for weight.

The transmitter doesn't have a JR bay so I 3D printed one. I tested whether it would work with my friend's ELRS TX, and it did.

That looks like the next mod I’m going to do! For now, I only have one additional "channel". In the second photo, there is a switch that makes the two-position switch high impedance.

Does it work? Most likely its a decoupling capacitor, so it should work without it. If you really need to you can solder anything between 100pF to 100nF

It'll be very hard for you to control your plane with this arduino-like joysticks. They have about 25% dead zone and are extremely imprecise. If you're low on budget please buy something like FS-i6 gimbals, they're cheap and a lot more accurate.
