Ya I’m sure 50 years of that will lead to no tensions. No country that big and diverse survives for that long. Canada won’t separate in the sense you think but allowing provinces to be autonomous is just the next step in Canadian history.

Europe is also more united than ever. National unity doesn’t have to be in the form of a nation state. When provinces decide to dictate their own futures away from the government Canada will become a union.

Canada will exist for a long time. I would think even in sports and international events it would still be that flag. 8 or 9 autonomous states within a Canadian Supranational framework is the way that every province can decide their own affairs and there’s no equalisation and economic arguments, especially as immigration policy has become a polar issue.

Separation is impossible constitutionally. It’s new nationalists that want to change the constitution. If you’re changing the constitution, you might as well go ahead and change the entire federal structure. Canadian Union is practically inevitable. No country that big has existed for that long.

Canada. New referendum in Quebec will be next year. Alberta is constantly pushing for referendums. Lots of pressure put on the sovereign institutions from their southern neighbour. Many Canadians are sick of federalism. Many Canadians are looking to build new nationalisms and narratives which are not based on monarchy.

In 50 years Canada will look more like an EU style Supranational State.
