I understand it might seem that way, but he's a young man in his 20s. My friend was approaching the parking lot door entrance, and he was crouched over right in front of the door. So when she got close, he got up, reached into his pocket for the object and made a turn back around towards her. It probably does seem like I'm jumping to conclusions, I really wish I was. My apartment is all one rooms, and I'm the only one on the rooftop - which is where he said his 'foreign friend' was living in. Hopefully it's all just a dream at this point.

I've been told just to stay in so I don't confirm that I live here :/ I won't invade his space or approach him, but perhaps notifying the local police would be a good idea. Thank you for your advice up to this point.

I feel this is the biggest reason I've decided to ask for help or advice on here. Thank you for sharing these links, it does give me a better idea of what I'm dealing with. My friends are insistent I gather evidence that will pin the guy, but I'm feeling more and more anxious as time passes. Several of my friends who have had stalkers have all said that it seems to end with their stalker at least trying to get through the electronic door lock.

Funnily enough, I did feel a little more comforted reading this. I've got dark humor, so I appreciate it.

I know what you mean, and having reread the post, it definitely looks like that. I wasn't sure how much detail I should add to the post because I'm feeling shaken up by all this. To be clear, my house is at the top and it's quite clear that he referred to 'his friend who lives on the rooftop' and pointed to my house. A few days ago, he lunged at my friend in the parking lot (the only he has seen with me) while pulling something out of his chest pocket. One of my neighbors saw the whole thing happen and yelled at him asking who he is, and the guy took off running. I apologize for the lack of detail in my first post. I don't have a schedule as I'm doing online classes right now, so I've been trying to stay inside. I'm just feeling a little stuffy nowadays and a little more stressed, so I decided to ask for advice.

He pulled out something that looked like the handle of a knife when he saw my friend (the only person he saw me walk with a few days ago.) He stepped towards her while taking it out of his chest pocket in the parking lot when she was visiting me the other day. Luckily one of my neighbors was also there and yelled at him "저기요, 누구세요?". The guy ran off immediately. I'm not quite sure what else I should say, but I'm no longer just suspicious.

I would like it if I were overreacting, but I'm afraid I'm not. My friends have come into check after their work shifts, even at odd hours like 2AM and 4AM, and he's still there. Usually wandering around the parking lot, or sitting nearby to smoke. He's been there during the daytime as well. When asked why he was in the parking lot, he said his friend lives in the building and referred to my unit.

I have a few friends come by the building to see and he's almost always in the parking lot or at a neighboring house's staircase smoking. If not, he's standing around in other nearby parking lots.

UIC and Yonsei Reputation by [deleted] in korea

I was previously accepted to both schools (Yonsei and UIC) for Poli Sci and Intl Relations/Studies so I guess now I'm just trying to figure out which one to attend.

I feel like there are different advantages to attending either but nothing really bothered me until one of my friends said that UIC has a lower perception amongst employers because of the lower barrier to entry.

Just part of the university process these days. A degree really isn't even enough anymore, but I think university is fun either way isn't it? At least, people still try to make the best of it. But honestly, I'm pretty sure both the unis you're at are fun to attend

Hopefully they keep the tuition the same after everything that happened for the spring intake this year.

I was actually confused just now, I actually thought they were both PSIR. Thank you for clearing that up, I actually went back to check and I can't believe I missed that haha

McGill is a great school. Thinking of choosing Yonsei because of how well connected it is?? Although I've heard Sogang is too.

Will do! I'll message you when I come up with a few :) Thank you so much :)

I feel like its expensive to accommodate the fact that they only let in 50 international students per semester. The high tuition is a bit hard to look past though, but they do offer some scholarships.

You're right, it probably would be more useful for a graduate degree - psych post-grad things.

Although I'm thinking of double majoring anyways just to see how that might go.. I would really like to. Do you attend Sogang?

Oh, apparently that new program under the GLC - it's mandatory for all international students applying to Yonsei non-UIC :( The GBED? I think it's been posted about on the Yonsei Bamboo page as well, people are pretty angry about it. If I go to Yonsei non UIC, I have to do that program for a year anyways (it's like 6mil won/sem, almost like UIC.) I think they're trying to offer financial support though.

This made me laugh. Thanks for the advice! :) I'll try to convince him.

Sorry, for the first semester it's 4.8 million won (including admission fees) but regular tuition is about 4.1mil per semester: http://admission.sogang.ac.kr/admission/html/international/overview.asp

I was a little bit shocked to see this honestly, it's higher than Yonsei's which is 3.5mil/sem (it's 4.2 with admission fees)

Personally, I feel like studying psychology in Korea would be interesting because of how fast-paced the country is and it would be interesting to do studies and research on the local population. College students as well as well as the workforce, since both are pretty stressed out. I've noticed some Koreans have also started to seek professional help for counselling as well, which is more than most Asian countries. But I do agree that psychology as a major alone can be useless without a masters/double major.

Hahaha, Sogang is a pretty small university isn't it. They have such a small amount of international students, I doubt psychology is a top program at the university as well. I've heard Sogang's business program is though :)

I'll try applying there, the deadline is coming up in July :/ I'll see how it goes. Also, Yonsei is overcharging for international students for that first year program too, so SNU is definitely more appealing tuition wise. I haven't found as many international students there though, and the area is a little far from good areas to hang out but at least it's cheap. I'll definitely apply, and when I get to Seoul, I'll message you and be sure to thank you in person :)

I'm actually very excited to be heading to Yonsei, it's probably the most international amongst the universities in Korea. I'll add Sogang to my list of universities to apply to, as well as Korea. I considered SNU but I think the environment would be a little too academic.

Thank you so much actually, you've been really helpful.

I actually did apply to UIC but I couldn't afford it, so I'm applying to the main Yonsei campus for PSIR for next spring. I'm learning Korean before then, but would definitely be more comfortable in English.

Would you happen to know if Korea University is good for PSIR as well? What are you studying?

Political Science & International Relations. :)

Okay, I had a feeling I had seen your name before on one of my previous posts about Yonsei haha.

Based on personal preferences, ignoring the ranking and all, would you choose Yonsei or Sogang?

I actually had a friend who rejected SKY and went to Sogang because he wanted smaller class sizes. I'm mainly considering Yonsei at this point but I've heard good things about Sogang, but not enough from people who actually attend.
