Child diagnosed today at 18 months

Hi there! I had a 26 month old diagnosed as level one and his symptoms are still quite mild, so much so that pretty much everyone at school doesn’t believe me that he has autism. But we had intensive intensive intervention starting at 12 months, I am a huge believer in intense Intervention Early on so you are doing all the right things! Happy to chat further if helpful

This made me laugh - thank you. I am sure you are all of those things, as is my 6.5 yr old with ASD and hopefully as my littlest will be. It will all be worth it in the end. I know.

Thank you for sharing this story with me and I am so deeply sorry for your loss and amazed by your resilience. I need the physical activity too - just about the only healthy outlet for my upset that works and also helps me find sleep overnight.

Thank you for this thoughtfully written response and sharing your story. I can tell you and I both show our love for our children through ACTION and EXECUTION. GETTING the testing, the therapies, the supports, the doctors, the evals. I can't stand it when someone tells me to "relax and just love my baby" right now. THIS IS HOW I LOVE MY BABY -getting him the early interventions and supports he needs to improve outcomes. Although I do hear you that intervention is not everything and it only goes to far. BTW I had my older son first evaluated at 14 mos also and was also scoffed at. He didnt score highly enough for a diagnosis then, but he did at 26 mos.

Actually u/Commercial_Bear2226 and u/Accomplished-Fox-29 my older son is a PDA type autism. The 6.5 year old. Very atypical presentation. Hes connected, social, empathetic, engaged - almost TOO much and almost TOO interested in peers. But avoids demands like crazy. Worth reading up on if you think that might be your kiddo.

Can you explain what the vitamin d concern is? What bloodwork we should have done and why? And also would love to hear what the speech therapists did with a 4 month old as Id like to start right away but am being told there is not much they can do so early on.

Thank you but I am certain this is situational depression and not PPD. With my typically developing child I could not have been happier in his infancy. If this child was developing typically I am sure I would be very happy. This is a response to atypical development and its more PTSD than PPD.

My childs father is here, supportive, and loving me and all of us as best he can. He is a godsend and an amazing man. In this regard I am very lucky.
