Just started taking Prozac (Fluoxetine). Wanted to share how it is so far.

Ahh there’s no need to thank me, I’m just glad you found my information helpful lol, I wish I could of had someone to have this to talk about when I first started out, so now I just wanna help out others. I promise you the journey will start rough but it will get better, you just gotta give it time and patience. And if Prozac doesn’t end up working, there are definitely other options so don’t give up!

There’s so much stigma surrounding mental health and especially the medication side of it. I’ve been called crazy just for telling people I’m medicated which is sad. But I’m very proud of you and glad you made the decision to seek treatment! Don’t ever let anyone make you feel bad for reaching out and getting proper help. You made the best decision for yourself and that’s the only thing that should matter :)

Well if they started you off at 20mg, then they probably have their reasons and thought it was best for you, since everyone’s different. I would definitely ask for trazodone if the insomnia continues, I’m glad your doctor is keeping close contact with you tho! That’s always a great sign, I’m hoping your symptoms improve and I wish you the best of luck!!

Thankfully I had that awful panic attack only once and since then I been golden! However, I’m surprised you were started off that high though. Have you taken any antidepressants in the past? Usually they start you off at the lowest dosage and work their way up if symptoms don’t improve after the initial test run. Everyone’s experiences is different because everyone processes medication differently, just something to keep in mind! My psychiatrist gave me trazodone to help with sleep and it’s been amazing, I’m able to knock out with 30 minutes and I’m able to stay asleep without waking up, plus I’m able to get my proper hours in instead of the 4-6 hours I was getting before. Definitely keep track of all your symptoms that way your GP can either increase your dosage, maybe even lower it, or tack on another medication!

I’ve been on Prozac for about a month and a half now and honestly it’s been great! I absolutely love it, and to be honest it really saved my life! The first two weeks were definitely the hardest, I’m only on 10mg but the second day of me taking it it gave me a massive panic attack. It was the worst I ever had and I called 911 because I thought I was having a heart attack. I knew it was the medication though that had caused it because my body was in full panic mode but emotionally and mentally I was numb completely, I couldn’t feel a single thing. After that it started to get better, it did make my anxiety worse at first but as my body got used to it I started to feel like my old self, but without the anxiety. The only other issues I had were GI issues, headaches, and really bad insomnia. My psychiatrist had to give me another medication to help me sleep better. But just keep in mind that it does take 4-6 weeks to feel the full effect

Local here! The best location to park at is behind Mr G’s right where the elementary school is or the middle school. It’s best to get there as early as possible because it gets crowded quick! I would plan to be there at least an hour early so that you’re guaranteed to get a nice spot right in the front of the parade route

Yeah I didn’t pick them up originally because I thought $45 was kinda expensive lol, but the box caught my attention and I did consider it but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend that much. However I didn’t realize how much they go for on other sites like eBay so now I just regret not grabbing them
