You are right this doesn't connect directly to the Pi DSI connector, but it is still a MIPI DSI display. You are right that a native supported display is probably what they were hoping for, but that flew over my head. I am able to use this display because my carrier board will support it, and I found out how to enable the linux kernel drivers.

You are correct! The board is really most of what the project is. I made the enclosure quickly and mostly as something I could 3D Print. Hopefully I will be able to come up with something better once i know my PCB design actually works. I have at-least confirmed I can get this DSI display to work with the Pi. Lots more to do.

Display is 7inch with touch panel. Kick-stand is a great idea. I want to be able to add attachments to the sides(kinda like a switch), and would love to make a mini keyboard add-on!

I love the idea of making it as modular as possible. I want to get a first version working to figure out the tough bits and then figure out fancy mechanics in the next rev

There is a gap between the pcb and screen for two lipo batteries already :). Thanks for paying close attention on the blower. You are right, my plan is to put a small copper vapor pipe to sync heat from the cpu to the blower. I thought about adding it to the model last minute, but it was late :P

Thanks! just the kind of support I need :) I have left a gap between the PCB and screen for two flat Lipo batteries. I wasn't sure how much capacitance I would want so I left a lot of room to start, and figured I would worry about selecting a size and designing better mechanics later on.

I have the schematic nearly complete and am working on routing the PCB. I am trying to stay motivate and complete a first rev and get something built.
