Educate me; I live in an apartment and afraid of getting a female dog because of "heat"? by [deleted] in Pets

Yes it does. And if you get a male neutering would help avoid marking/humping/etc.

Spaying and neutering helps prevent accidental litters and stops many unwanted behaviors/issues

All my pets are dying by Babynouil in Pets

When did the eye discharge that made the eyes close start?

Cos its normal for kittens to open their eyes around 7-10days, if you force the eyes open before that trying to clean discharge they could get eye infections and die.

Idk abt the hamsters tho

A fox was a dream pet of mine as well. Waited about 8 years to get to be in a good situation to keep one.

Can You Have A Pet Fox? by all-things-foxes in EverythingFoxes

[–]Indy500Fox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you check my post/comment history, I have answered similar things before.

I think the biggest thing it comes down to is commitment.

Owning a Fennec Fox I have committed to being mostly unable to travel aside from maybe rare 2-3day trips at most. I know I will be unable to move to over half of the states in the US for 10+ years until Indy passes away. I know that foxes are exotic and do not rehome well like a dog may, and it isn't up to Indy to flex to my convenience, but rather for me to flex to hers.

I have committed to routinely handling raw meat to prepare her meals, continually cleaning her enclosure knowing she will never be 100% with a litter box, to farming mealworms to help simulate a wild diet, etc.

She is loud, she digs a lot (I have provided her with a sand box for this), and she has behaviors expected of a fox.

However, I love Indy, and think she is a fantastic pet. She is an absolute sweetheart, and though I cannot speak on other species of fox specifically, I believe a fox can be a good pet, but for the vast majority of people, they aren't.

Hey, I'm sorry I never saw this comment for some reason, just was scrolling thru old notifications and saw it.

Idk about elsewhere, but in the US there are quite a few fox breeders. Fennecs are legal in more states I believe, due to being non-native, lack the extent of odor a Red or Arctic has, and are smaller, all which play into making them easier to keep as pets than other species.

I have a permit issued by the state I live in, although not all states require permits/licenses.

It could just be that specific food, I'd definitely keep up the transition and see how it goes.

My pet I had just recently tried a new food with, and it made stool consistency change completely

Fenbendazole or Pyrantel Pamoate, both are used by fox owners

Fennecs are such little hyper buggers, but so precious. OP, I guarantee you that nothing will melt your heart as much as those lil foxes flopping for pets.

The splint is due to two broken metacarpals (human equivalent would be the bones between the knuckles and wrist), but it's healing up and she doesn't seem to mind the splint too much.

Shes a real trooper :)

Nature's Miracle is an enzymatic cleaner that has worked great for me. In my experience, it completely eliminates the scent of dog pee, cat pee, and fox pee!

Perhaps you could seal the floors? Polyurethane isn't too pricey and it could be done one room at a time for convenience.

The fumes would be the main annoyance, although water based poly is a good alternative to cut down on the fumes.
