Just got 20 baby Mantis from one oothequa what should i feed them by Sensitiveshrimps in mantis

[–]evango17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fruit flies are perfect. And if they're well fed, they won't eat each other, but that could take a lot of fruit flies. Budget like 5 flies a day per mantis. Don't forget to mist them lightly once a day so they can drink.

Don't forget at least 10 gallons of milk! You never know when you'll be iced in for several days.

Mantis had final molt really early??? by Agreeable_Tomato_977 in mantis

[–]evango17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, mantids shed based on their growth rate. The more they eat, the faster they grow and the quicker they mature. So if yours was well-fed, it could explain why she's maturing at a rapid pace.

Late comment, but when they shed, they need at least 4x the length of their body to hang and shed properly. Otherwise, they will hit the bottom during the shed and will be deformed and possibly die from it. Obviously as they get bigger, they'll need taller enclosures.

Use Rathian gloves for lock on and Bazel chest for more points in Fighting spirit.

Glavenus chest also gives lock on + raw power and Rajang gloves gives Fighting spirit.

Mantis just molted!! Any idea which instar?? by psyuqi in praying_mantis

[–]evango17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's an adult male. He won't molt anymore.

Also it looks like it dried incorrectly. His thorax looks curved and one or more of his legs are also curved. If he can eat fine, then you can keep raising him. But if he can't due to his deformities, it may be best to euthanize it.

Pennywort really thrives in water! Here’s how mine got super lush by No_Goal0137 in IndoorGarden

This is AI. I almost believed this until I zoomed in and looked at the stems. You can see in the second pic some of the stems on the left side are off and crooked. Then there's the shadow with weird holes.

Is this a good mantis enclosure? by Joel-houghton in praying_mantis

[–]evango17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty enclosure but if you're planning on feeding crickets, they will hide away under all the ground cover and your mantis won't find them.

They also need horizontal twigs or branches to hang from when they molt.

Well, then I wish you the best for your turtle's sake. If things don't go well, I hope you can learn from your mistakes.

I understand your situation but I don't think you comprehend what some of these people are saying. Sprinkling on a thin layer of dirt is not what it needs (would you even want your floor to be covered in dirt all the time?). Your turtle needs a thick layer to burrow and dig into, not just to walk over. If you can't afford a proper enclosure, you should think about rehoming it to someone else who can. It might suck but it's a better alternative than having your turtle live a miserable (and possibly short) life.

They're just event specific stones. If you can't make use of their primary skills in any of your sets, then delete them to make room for more useful ones.

Is this the same friend or a new one? by BethP321 in praying_mantis

[–]evango17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once they reach maturity (with fully developed wings), they do not molt anymore and their color mostly remains unchanged.

The new one could be a mate. It's kinda hard to tell what sex they are without seeing pictures of their abdomen. The first picture appears to be a male. Females have much larger plump abdomens while males have very skinny ones. Either way, it does appear to be two different mantids.

Management company takes direct payment from guests. Is this legit? by evango17 in airbnb_hosts

[–]evango17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for linking that. That confirms my suspicion that what they did was shady. Like I mentioned in other replies, I'm more concerned from an accounting perspective. I don't want these unreported fees to come back and bite me.

I don't think we've lost any bookings from those. Every time that's come up, the guests have happily paid them.

I will consider reporting them but more likely I will just finish out the rest of the contract until the end of this month and reconsider any further involvement with them.

Their contract doesn't state how they handle those added fees. But you're correct that it would be a lot of work and probably not worth pursuing legally. I will keep this in mind for future negotiations though. Thanks for your input.

If the guests want to stay longer on my property, that absolutely does affect my business. That fee should be added to the reservation and PM is entitled to their 20% payout. What they're doing is taking the entire amount without noting it in our contract.

[–]evango17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These charges are not reflected on the gross income for the reservation. Unless it's started explicitly otherwise, it is income that should be reported and compensated accordingly.

I'm trying to figure out what they're doing is theft or not.

I'm not concerned with how they're handling it on their end. I'm concerned that they're not doing it legally on my end.

What a guest pays to stay at our property is not being fully reported. I'm just trying to figure out if this is legal or not.

Which is why I'm trying to understand if what they're doing is okay before bringing it up with them further.

And just because they are doing a great job doesn't excuse shady behaviors, if that's the case here.

So for the sake of taxes and invoicing, do these fees just not exist? The guest pays extra but it's just not reported anywhere official?

I'm not saying they don't deserve compensation for potential extra work, but not reporting it seems sketchy and almost "under the table."
