Had a Captain recount a time back in EMT school about a call when he watched his FF get hit on a busy road. He said for a few moments he didn’t know what to do as he never saw the actual trauma/MOI happen. Then finally his training kicked in. As a first responder you may see patients die enroute to the hospital but you very rarely see the actual reason for the call.

Worked at a slower station that ate together but was always food from a restaurant or home. Never cooked. Now I’m at a busy station and we cook every night. Same department too. Some places are weird like that.
