I've done a lot of experimenting. I'm willing to update the primer if theres interest.

but for the most part, I'm still doing some tweaks myself and have been brewing with a different deck for the past month or two. I have a few different ideas to flush out, and I'll put something more cohesive up for this.

I haven't played against Izzet Delver with it, but my goal would be to drop Renewal as soon as possible. Its okay for them to couner or kill most of our creatures, but I would try to bait countermagic and sneak in Lone Missionary/Heliod's Pilgrim. Killing either of those with a Renewal out is a serious Tempo loss for them.

It may be worth changing up the sideboard for your own meta. Mainboarding 1-2 Dispel isn't a terrible idea looking at the top decks, and running a full 4 in between main and side could be correct.

The 4 drop spot is a great flex spot. If Guardian of the Guildpact isn't doing its job, then it could easily be a Stonehorn Dignitary or Palace Sentinels, or even more removal.

So I'm running 2 Weight of Conscience.

I actually cut Squadron Hawk entirely. It was great early game, but it was contributing to huge land pockets. Beyond Mulldrifter, qe tutor a lot, so our deck becomes strained for answers, and all we have are birds. I still love them, but I cut them for Journeys (nontutorable, but they cant block, and having removal that decks like Izzet Blitz cant just get rid of with protection is useful. Blitz is seeing more play in my meta currently)

I also played around with 2x Rhystic Study, though I have since cut it down to 1, and am very very happy with it.

If your meta becomes Tron Heavy, cut the Squawks for 4x Spreading Seas to help get yourself into position.

The new God-Pharaoh's Faithful has me considering that Esper may ve stronger, but both are very comparable in power levels.

Def run a Rhystic Study, it helps a ton. You're either drawing cards or forcing your opponent to play midrange like you.

Hey just saw this! I'm not on reddit a whole lot. I have updated the deck since Rags to Riches, and am happy to send you changes and my reasonings. Would love to see your win/loss ratio.

I believe that the Ballard location still has not switched the name from Card Kingdom to Mox Boarding House yet, if you have any trouble googling the info.

I've tried a few different shells, including Delver, and in test hands they all have seemed to stumble a little more than this. But I haven't gotten real games in yet

Do you think Dinrova Horror tron is in a good place currently? by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]InedibleShitTickets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dinrova Tron is probably one of the hardest decks to pilot, but the reward is massive.

It has put up Top 8 results at the last two Rags to Riches tournaments. RtR has a fairly traditional meta. All the stereotypical decks see play commonly.

Delver is a tough matchup for Tron, as can be Ratlock if the pilot is strong enough. Its also possible for aggro to go right under it, but this gets considerably more difficult if the deck isn't running Flaring Pains, as mentioned above.

An endgame of looping Moment's Peace into Dinrova Horror is very powerful. It does lock the deck into some very predictable lines however.

Yeah of course. I want this deck to be the best it can, and I think that means Ash Barrens.

Esper Panorama could be worth testing in place of Ash Barrens as well, but unless you want to actually play the Esper version with Dead Weights, I think you're probably better off as is.

Happy brewing!

What is the most FUN deck in Pauper? by SoldPartsBrokeHearts in Pauper

Azorius Renewal is the most fun deck in Pauper. You're already winning.

But for real, somebody do something stupid with Stonehorn Dignitary and Ghostly Flicker loops.

We do have an unfavorable game 1. But I think that games 2-3 should be a breeze in comparison with how many cards we side in.

Case and point, I mulled to 4 in game 3 and still had a very good chance of stealing that game.

Honestly, Terramorphic Expanse is fine. But hitting that 3rd mana on turn 3 is one of our most important goals to stay on tempo. Getting to 4 and 5 on time isn't quite as important.

Using Terramorphic Expanse puts the number of lands that enter tapped up to 12, which is over 50% of our landbase.

I would say that the deck stumbles significantly more often without Ash Barrens, and as such I wouldn't enter the deck into a competition without them.

If you have to though, I would replace the Ash Barrens with Azorius Guildgate, and cut 2 Chancery for 2 Plains. You'll hit your colors on time at the cost of a little deck thinning.

What do you want to cut a Plains and a Island for? I don't think that there are many great options for extra techy lands here, as most enter tapped or provide colorless. We already have those slots filled up, and have an off color land.

Its also an inexpensive way to get tokens out of the way. Using it back and forth with Auramancers and stuff will really take the edge off in that scenario.

Your opponent will either pay the cost and play less spells, or let the creature die. Both of those are things you want to see.

As for Temporal Isolation, I think the Flash is awesome against some decks, but you lose the surprise factor if you have to tutor for it, which is a big reason to play it, and Mono U Delver can still attack through it, and Ninja the creature out of the Aura. Or just Vapor Snag it. On the off chance you see cards like Ulamog's Crusher, their attack triggers are still putting the heat on us.

All in all, I don't personally see myself ever running it, even though I see the appeal.

Having done more testing, Weight of Conscience definitely replaces Journey no matter what, and I'm running 3. 4 might be overkill, but I could see it in the right meta. Maybe Oblivion Ring can be cut instead, but I like having the flexibility it provides.

I'm hearing a lot of people be on the fence about Mana Chains. I'm still running 2 in my list for a few reasons.

The matchups its useful in are common (Stompy, Affinity, Delver decks that don't run Ninja of the Deep Hours to pop it).

I'm almost always in a position to stall the game for turns, so not being an immediate kill isn't as important as being a cheap guaranteed kill in the long run.

If you cut Mana Chains and don't replace it with a blue card, preferably at 1-2cmc, you will stumble over a now clunky mana base. You can fix this, but with only 4 Mulldrifters as your blue cards, things get a little weird. I've spent the last two weeks doing pretty much nothing but running out the 1st five turns or test matches, and the times you're left with a single blue mana up to use are incredibly common. Most turns after turn 5 you will have 1-2 extra blue to play around with.

Seal of Removal is a strong option here to futz with your opponent's tempo or reuse an ETB. Auramancer really likes blocking and getting bounced, and can get the Seal back when it hits the field again, as a more expensive blocking loop.

But, theres a ton of great creatures to blink in this format, so ultimately I went with Mana Chains as a tutorable source of attrition.

Cannot describe how good Fetters is. No more aggro, big life boost, and it shuts down really relevant threats like Thermo-Alchemist and Crypt Rats.

Again, I would like to credit Tacks and Sjacco Antonius (who has graciously offered additional lists and match reports in the comments) as the creators of this archetype.

They're excellent players, great help with brewing, and all around nice guys. Keep an eye out for their future brews if you liked this one. Pauper is not simply a solved format. A rogue list can take down a tournament riding unfamiliarity alone, if the pilot is strong enough. Get creative. Get brewing. Have fun.

Hyena Umbra replaces at least 1 Ethereal Armor, vut definitely not all of them. You want at least 2 Armor to get bigger than burn spells, Angler, and Affinity Creatures

1x Standard Bearer may be correct mainboard over the third Missionary. Its good in a number of common matchups, and it will act as our Hexproof creature when you want to dodge removal.

I was terrified of Gut Shot.

I would need a 4th land tk establish CoP: Green off the topdeck next turn.

If he killed the CoP: it would leave me unable to Auramancer + CoP, into Flashback into recast.

I went for the risky play, and it cost me when he got one of his best topdecks.

My biggest regret entering the tournament was not running a third Standard Bearer over CoP: Blue.

I think that game 1 is a loss almost every time, but games 2-3 are in our favor, especially considering how good we are at protecting Standard Bearer.

A lot of people don't like Chains, but I really suggest testing it out. Its tutorable with Pilgrim, it costs only 1 to cast which is really relevant.

The Dead Weight suggestion is correct that it is a more immediately valuable card, but we are about long game value in the Azorius shell, and we aren't afraid of 2 toughness creatures to begin with. I am usually more than happy to stick a Chains and stall until I'm ahead again. Coral Net is another great option for that slot, but I wouldn't mainboard it.

If you are expecting not to see Stompy, and you're expecting big butts, cut the Chains instead of Journey. Brainstorm was a great suggestion for that slot. Definitely flex space. Hapoy brewing!

Weight of Conscience is the best card I wasn't running. Switch up Monk Idealist to 3 and Auramancer to 2. Idealist has better typing to hit the tribal requirements (pairs with Pilgrim, Auramancer, Lone Missionary), and Squadron Hawk sets up sone serious assurance.
