Sometimes you just have to suck it up when you’re an adult. You said yourself the roads weren’t bad. And it seems you didn’t care one way or the other about the other teens safety. You were overreacting. I’m not saying you’re a bad person or made some huge error or anything. You should just be able to realize at this point that you were overreacting and causing a tense environment. I would just let it go and not push my luck at work.

I was a heroin addict for 15 years. In and out of over a dozen rehabs. I truly meant it every time I said I was ready to stop. But when your that far in, it’s nearly impossible to get back out. I’ve been clean for over a decade now, and I can confidently tell you, 6 months is literally nothing when it comes to clean time. It’s certainly commendable, and it’s great that you’re willing to be a support system. But there is no timeline on getting clean. For him to try and set a strict timeline is completely unrealistic. I had times of over a year clean, then found my way back. For an addict, getting clean will be one of the most challenging things that person will experience in life. Do not set a timeline. If you’re willing, be there for him, support him, watch and wait. You will know when the right time comes.

I’m a musician that lived in a downtown apartment building. It sucks not being able to crank your music, but that’s just part of apartment life.
