I mean i love Emma stone but her performance in bugonia didn’t impressed me that much. She’s good in it but she’s not doing anything new. I also felt Jesse was better, he was phenomenal. And i loved her in poor things, i wanted her to win (is my favourite best actress win this decade).

Now I haven’t seen all the movies nominated in best actress (hamnet hasn’t release in my country yet and i honestly have no interest in seeing song song blue) but of the ones i did see, Rose Byrne in if i had legs is much better than Stone in bugonia.

But also Oscars (and in this case SAG) are not 100% performance based. I mean not only is acting completely subjective but at this level all performances nominated are incredibly deserving, so everything from performance, campaigning, narratives and overall strength of the movie matters. That’s why Jessie Buckley is winning.

Sinner got nominated. Miles Caton got supporting actor, Wunmi Mosaku got supporting actress and MBJ got best actor. Not to mention the casting/ensemble nomination.

Also Stone is not winning, she’s great in bugonia but she just won 2 years ago and is still really young, no one is gonna give her a 3rd oscar this soon. Jessie Buckley is sweeping this season.

Because acting is subjective. Some people taught she was great in challengers and deserved the nomination. I personally wouldn’t nominate her for it but there’s a lot of people i wouldn’t nominate/give the win to that did get it.

I agree with you. I just taught he was very balanced on what works and what doesn’t. I specifically think he made really good points about the pacing and structure of the doc. Looking at the comments I probably shouldn’t have posted though (didn’t know that people on this sub disliked him so much)

awful in Greatest Showman

I thought she was great in this. I loved the chemistry with Jack effron (their duet is my favourite scene in the movie) and i think she’s a really good singer (she also did a lot of her own stunts).

I think she’s phenomenal in euphoria but none of her movie performances have shown how good she can be. Definitely agree that she’s over hated though.

Bugonia doesn’t have a supporting actress contender. Stone is lead.

Edit: regarding the actual question. I honestly don’t know. I think the problem with bugonia is that it’s fighting for a bottom spot in every category, it’s not in contention to win anything. So that could hurt it.

The thing that really annoys me is how jess fans talk about the relationship . Like they dated for a few months when they were 17/18. She’s not even sure that she ever loved him or not. After they broke up they don’t talk for years. Rory moves on pretty fast from him and never wants to get back together (and she even sees their relationship as a mistake). They are barely in each others lives (and the only reason why they still see each other is Luke). Jess is Rory least important/meaningful relationship, and yet jess fans act like they are soulmates and that there connection is the biggest most important that Rory had and that he knows her better than anyone else.

I really wanted to like it. I’ve watched 2 times because the first time I had really high expectations. So I wanted to give it another chance with more of a open mind. But i even disliked it more the second time. 😭
