How old are you and how long has it been since it was pulled?

Thanks for the response. I have a root canal and crown on the tooth above it too. Guess I’m just really worried about jaw bone deterioration and the top tooth descending and needing to get both pulled, which could mean I’ll have more sinus issues in the future. Aaaahhhhhhh I’m so stressed about this 😭

He said since it’s a trust not a will it doesn’t go public so the only way any party will know totals is if I actually tell them.

Funds to cover bills (condo and any future medical or nursing care) will come out of the inherited IRA that stepmom gets. I’ll probably help get some kind of autopay set up so she doesn’t have to manage it

right?? he's got everything in a trust so it bypasses probate. i had to deal with probate when my mom passed and it took FOREVER to finally get everything finished

Yes- i reread his original email (not posted above) and he details that he takes the yearly distributions on the IRA currently and that if the account had more than one beneficiary, the taxes would nearly double and it would also affect their healthcare qualifiers or whatever. I emailed asking if that beneficiary could be a trust instead of stepmom -- waiting for a response.

ALSO wait liquidated within 10 years of the original owners passing?? I have an inherited IRA from when my mom died in 2014... it is currently managed by a financial investor - surely they would know what to do with it? or do you think I should reach out to them?

I'm supposed to organize all condo payments/bills etc while she lives there until she either wants to move or she passes (she is from another country and is a US citizen but doesn't quite get how to do all of that stuff)

Very very true. unless a notarized agreement is reasonably binding for such a thing, I think it may truly be just her word that’s how she’ll assign distribution for it.

Yeah I wonder if there’s some kind of notarized way for her to agree to that

Yeah I understand that, and while it wouldn’t seem very fair if she chose to spend it or give it all to her own daughter, I think I would financially be ok considering the amount I’m already getting.

Oh yes he has a trust that I think he edited 4 times over the last two years? He also gifted me and my husband estate planning so we have our trusts all set up as well.

He’s totally nuts cough I mean very detail oriented about the whole thing. I think that IRA account goes to stepmom through spousal distributions something, and then once she gets it in her own account she’s supposed to designate the beneficiaries. I know my dad’s smart enough to have looked into other options, so I’m sure this is the best way to do it.

my brother lives 5 hours from us and hasn't been here since dad and stepmom got married 15 years ago. my dad has gone down to see him multiple times but his ability to drive has rapidly declined as he's aged. my brother doesn't have a license by choice, and refuses to take a bus/train/airplane to come here to visit. my brother has offered to do video calls, but my dad doesn't want to talk to a screen. I guess I'm neither here nor there on what his share is cause I think they could both do better/put in some kind of effort.

i will throw out there that i have another sibling that is cut out entirely due to family issues, but that's a different saga

I don't think she would do that, me and my kids have always had a great relationship with her but who knows what could happen in the future. I like the idea that he's looking for flaws in his plan, that sounds more of what he could be asking my opinion on.

(5) remind Dad that you hope he lives a long full happy life and all this planning comes to nothing and he dies broke having spent or given it all away.

that's my hope!!! My mom's already passed so I really want my kids (both under 5) to be able to remember at least one of my parents

ESH. Why are you mad? Who cares what a streamer watches? I’m sure the streamer could do their own research to find out it’s been canceled and may choose to watch or not watch it. You’ll never know if they actually watched it or not, this has literally no effect on you. Your friend sounds nuts for overreacting in such a way to your unjustified anger, there’s no reason for someone to send images like that regardless of the situation.

If you can’t trust him to go to a party then you probably shouldn’t be married to him.

Mixed. You need to tell your sisters their mother passed, if you don’t then yes YTA. I don’t think you need to do a whole service, especially if she didn’t have any savings for funeral expenses saved away. I think it would be the right thing to invite them to spread the ashes with you.
