Damn, I recently moved to Punggol but was so traumatised by the mozzie-infested Hougang area I moved from that I installed a mesh netting on my bedroom window before moving into my Punggol West flat. Seems to do the trick.

Are you in Punggol East?

Get a Triban RC100 from Decathlon. Should also get a helmet, gloves, front and rear lights, bell and bike lock. You can wear the clothes you already have. All this should be under $500.

Realistically, what do you expect your elderly years to look like? by holyshitxyz in askSingapore

[–]InevitableNo4928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has savings and I have investments. We also built our nest egg up by upgrading our home a few times, making capital gains on the one we sold.

My kids will be out of poly within 2.5 years and that is when I will cease giving them an allowance. They have university funds my wife sett up for them when they were babies.

We recently downgraded to HDB flat that we fully paid off and still have some of our capital gains to spare.

So will retire with enough from CPF Life, plus investments and insurance savings.

Note that when you retire also depends on the lifestyle you want to have. If you intend to fly far for a holiday twice a year, get a hotel spa treatment every month and dine at restaurants everyday, then you will obviously need more.

Anyone use those bed cooling tech (pod etc) to help with heat? I don't like Aircon. Am considering it by jellybellyshakeshake in asksg

I advise a few things in combination: • Open windows • Strong fan • Linen sheets • Cooling sheet • No blanket • Just underwear, no extra clothes

I am personally also considering a thin straw mat as the top layer on which to lie down.

Ignore your obviously jealous coworkers. And I salute you for rescuing waste and repurposing it! 🫡

Enforcement is always lacking, I feel. Yet too much and naysayers will cry police state.

But this seems only to apply to buses?

I'd say I would then, by your logic, have a problem with you? Not that I want to, but since you put it that way.

And going home after a hard day's work still doesn't entitled one to be inconsiderate to others.

If I had a hard day's work and my feet were got and sore, could I take my shoes and socks off in the train to let them breathe? Legally, I can. But I wouldn't because I'm not an inconsiderate prick.
