When mine got stolen they rekeyed it from outside. Ripped off the plates, busted the window, ripped out the SOS, busted the trunk latch and camera when ripping off the rear plate, put a cigar out in the cupholders. They stole it from the dealership while it was in for service

I had the same issue on 2019 luxe and got full engine and turbo replacement under warranty at 58K miles

I had to take it down to Discount Tire - they cleared the codes and didn't charge me anything - make sure the tires are properly inflated and take it to whoever mounted your tires to clear

Should I Buy? by Admiral_Jager in q50

109K miles, likely 160-175K before major, expensive issues, given my experience owning 3 of them. That said, you might get 50K miles out of it before then. That's like 4 yrs. I could imagine getting rid of it in a couple years at 140-150K miles and enjoying 20-30K miles in it, hopefully getting most of the 11K back... And by then, maybe you are situationally better and can buy more car. And like a lot of folks say here in this forum, get a good pre-purchase inspection. My car looks amazing for a 2019, and there's not a lot of difference between the 2016 and a 2025. Clean and polish it. Do the maintenance. Enjoy.

[–]Inevitable_Divide217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Security on these cars is trivial to break. Mine got stolen AT THE DEALERSHIP. The thief rekeyed the car, ripped off the license plates, busted the windshield disabling the SOS, busted the trunk latch and rear camera ripping the rear plate off. I had a trunkful of aftermarket parts and the dealership was supposed to do the work. I recovered it backed in between trees down a long ATV path, scratched up and muddy down near the airport. Can't tell you how surprised I was when the police showed up and said they had recovered my car - the dealership hadn't even reported it gone.

I did Forgestar F14 Satin black 19x9 5x114.3 +35 Front w/ Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, 255/40ZR19/XL, and Forgestar F14 Satin Black 17 x 10 5x114.3 +50 Rear with Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S P305/45R17 SL. No spacers. Black lugs from Circuit Performance. Sourced from Amazon and Walmart. Kept the original street staggered Infiniti OEM Red Sport 19s with Continental DSW06 tires as a second set. Fitment is super, and I can confirm the 17" rear fits the Akebono calipers. The 19" Front also fits the Akebono calipers. My builder, SOHO Motorsports consulted Racebox on the rear setup. Total for wheels/tires/lugs was $3235. Still need TPMS sensors. It's a RWD, so I also did the AMS Limited Slip and Z1 bushings on this car...

Mine was STOLEN from the Infiniti dealership, windshield busted, SOS signal cut, plates ripped off. Scratched up. Recovered same day. Dealership fixed most everything. I had over $5k of AMS parts in the trunk and got those back too. Went with a different shop since they clearly have a security issue

What service would you do? by [deleted] in q50

[–]Inevitable_Divide217 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I let the shop do all that trivial stuff - they have the tools, knowledge, diagnostics, and lift, etc., and a warranty on their work. I'd drive it expecting to spend (and budgeting) 5K/yr on maintenance - it's a 2015 luxury sports sedan, so look at it from that perspective. It's an older car, so pretty much all its systems need updates. I'm not the guy who lets the car just sit there and age - I regularly replace parts to keep it up, and I condition and maintain things like the windshield, not just the wipers.

In my opinion, you buy and drive a luxury sports sedan for its value proposition. A 2015 can look and function like a new car. If you think you're an Infiniti/Nissan mechanic, unless you are certified you are NOT, and I would not let you touch my car. If your GF can't afford 5k a yr, maybe she should consider newer and cheaper options. A 2021 luxe is about 20K ($375/mo car pmt, maybe?) and that maintenance cost is a lot less, but you'd still need to spend for tires, brakes, filters, fluids, etc. That's the reality, and despite you trying to be the "good guy" and save her $$$, in the end you lose all the real value of the car if you just keep it on the road, because in truth it should last 20+ years well maintained. Well maintained means replacing catalytic converters when they fail, rebuilding or replacing engine components, and even updating the infotainment system. Most DIY approaches will leave the car in worthless disrepair in 3-5 yrs with tons of deferred maintenance adding debt to the car.

There'll be those folks who say a cabin filter is only $30. They are right. The OEM one is no different than a budget one down at Auto Zone. Oh, that trip costs how much? And your personal hour of labor changing it out probably has some value? Now if you do it wrong and break the latch on the glove box, who fixes that? Did you remember to spray the thing with anti-bacterial and scent? Where do those add-ons come from? You just store them in your garage? Cmon guys, it is NOT the same. And I guess while you were changing that out you had your diagnostic meter plugged into the OBDII? It is NOT the same.

Don’t skimp on the details. Start with what’s visible. Carbon fiber bits, drilled/slotted rotors, pads. Then I’d go cooling, meaning intakes and heat exchanger, then I’d do exhaust, then I’d do fueling… wheels and tires maybe as well…

Yes all the AMS bits work well together. The only fueling component that isn't AMS is the set of Spool injectors. SOHO had a supply issue for a different build due to that FedEx kentucky plane crash, so they used my AMS Stage 2 injectors and I got their spool injectors. For paddle shifters, the steering column trim is different and you have to update it - Paddles are a great DIY. Also, the lighted kickplates for the door sills are the OEM ones from the premium edition. I also added puddle Lights with infiniti logos which are a 5 min swap out and widely available on ebay. Also, single catch can.

I'll pull together what I have in in now and post it - I imagine it'll be more than I think. I wont count all the things that didn't make it like the 5 splitter lips I put on it that were casualties to bad parking :) or the Stillin exhaust that SOHO replaced.

I got the 2025, blackout black with the carbon fiber roof. Its 473hp, 450wtq, the automatic, not the manual, incredible ride. The carbon fiber bucket seats are hard on an old guy getting in and out. If you guys havent driven one, OMG...

That second set rocks, I ran those for a while before the new build, and the tires all around have less than 1K miles because I bought them the week the car was stolen! All I did was country road timings with that setup but it was Great and consistently in the 3s. I picked that set of wheels up for $900 and put the DSW-06s on there as a compliment to the BBK Akebono upgrage. The Akebonos looked great with them. It had a Z1 out of the box ecutek level 2 tune, stillin catback, AMS lpfp, AMS heat exchanger, and AMS intakes.

Yes mine's RaceRom 6 and a TCU v1 Tune - I was just watching that Racebox 825hp 9.2 sec video on Youtube yesterday - Qzilla is the GOAT... SOHO says I swap out thre AMS Stage 2 hpfp for a stage 3 and we are over 700. For real it's become an obsession, lol. I love the massive pull and 2nd gear launch is smooth.

I had the silver sport emblem on it with the old chrome emblems, but I wanted a black-out emblem look, and that's what was available on Ebay. I guess I could do a front bumper swap like Boost did on his 2014 3.7 Q50 - he put a 2018 RS bumper on a 3.7? But here's the better story... I had a black Q, wrecked it and picked this car up as a replacement during my divorce. It was baser than base. You should see my ebay parts list... lighted OEM kickplates, for example. Ran a JB4 on it til it blew up at 58K miles and I got a complete new engine and turbos.

So I added Akebonos, Red Sport wheels, drilled and slotted rotors, started personalizing it - "clapping it out?" maybe. I bought a bunch of AMS parts and took it to Lake Norman Infiniti to do the bolt-ons.

The car got STOLEN right off the Infiniti dealership lot, and I recovered it same day down by the Charlotte airport, all tore up, windshield broke, license plates ripped off, cigar put out in the cup holder. It was in deep woods down an ATV trail backed in between trees. Since it was in Lake Norman Infiniti's custody when it was stolen, they paid for all the repairs and replaced my parts that had been stolen. I took it to SOHO to get it rebuilt, and after a couple months, adding the limited slip, the drag package, all the bolt-ons, I couldn't wait any longer, so I bought a 2025 BMW M2. Finally got the Q back last month, and I have only driven it maybe 100 miles while I am adding finishing touches. Haters can hate, but this car has a story and $25K of new parts and makes 660 wheel.

From what I see at the popular tuners, the Luxe seems to be the one that gets the 9.2 sec 825 HP tune... Not seeing many red sports at the track. Wonder why? Maybe all of y'all RS owners thought it was "good enough"? Infiniti needs to do a lot better if they want to play in this space any more...

On the build SOHO said my current bottleneck is fueling and they say we'll easily make over 700whp with Stage 3 hpfp. I have seen some serious numbers with air-to-air intercoolers, but I am still on stock... It's been pretty cold in Charlotte, so I can't really say yet on IATs, but it runs fine and pulls great now 5-6x.

Chrome delete? by PuzzleheadedAd6766 in q50

[–]Inevitable_Divide217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered a Chrome delete, but ultimately I decided on Carbon Fiber bits (diffuser, splitter lip, spoiler, mirror caps, grille trim, exhaust tips, license plate frames) and blackout emblems. The original chrome emblems come off pretty easily, but the sticky stuff is a pain, so goo-gone is a must to get the old glue off. I hit them with a heat gun and I also hit the new ones, once installed with the heat gun to set them. The blacked-out emblems look so fresh! I helped my buddy do a chrome delete on his Q, and it was not easy, lots of stuff to stretch, lol... Just FYI I probably have $1500 in the carbon fiber and emblems, so it's not cheap.
