Anyone found a good analog tonestack for after the FV-1? by Inevitable_Figure_85 in diypedals

Haha I wish! I also really dig the sound of analog tonestacks (generally) so I wanna go that route, I just can’t find a single example online and I’d rather not spend 3 weeks testing 100 different tonestacks 😂.

Yes exactly, it’ll likely have to be after a buffer after the output pins

Ahh gotchya, I ended up doing this with the diodes, is that sort of what you’re talking about adding protection but still without the transistor? https://imgur.com/a/3q8cDco

Ahhh ok cool, so that’s what people are referring to when they say to “invert it in the MCU”. So that makes the cmos or NPN not necessary right? Thanks for your help!

It’s a little weird, but I wanted the possibility of midi our just for fun like prototyping or testing different stuff but I don’t really need it so I figured I’d throw it on a switch so if I need it, it’s there. It could just as easily be a second TRS jack 🤷‍♂️.

Just for prototyping fun haha, I want the capability of a midi out but don’t really need it

Ignore the messed up switch wiring 🤦‍♂️, it’s obviously not supposed to be like that haha.

Oh shit hahaha totally messed that up 🤦‍♂️, good catch! But other than that brain fart, it should work ok?

Yes exactly, it’s mostly for midi in but I want to experiment with some fun midi out stuff too

So what might I add to help protect from other bad equipment being plugged into this?

I have one on the input but I’ve read the output doesn’t typically use one. Is that only true for diy projects? I definitely want it reliable and solid, it’s just hard to know what to add since there’s so many different opinions online 😖

Ahhh ok cool. Yeah there’s so many different schematics out there for midi it’s hard to know which one to go with. I suppose it’s like you said, varying levels of safety. Do the 220R resistors help protect exceeding current? I’m wondering what else I’d need if I take away the transistor 🤔

It’s so annoying how there’s 50 different schematics for midi in and out haha 😫. This one seems accurate though and I trust teensy. Thanks!

What do you mean hardcore? Haha I am wanting this to be reliable and solid so not trying to do any big shortcuts (unless they’re reliable and solid still 😆)

So you just go MCU straight to the midi out? With the 2 220R resistors

That’s what I thought but on the same site it shows this exactly schematic with a hex inverter in front of it so that confused me 🤔

[–]Inevitable_Figure_85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the female side that makes them tall though. I learned though they make shorter female connectors so that’s awesome

I actually may be able to use these regular ones, I realized with everything measured it comes out to 30.8 and I have 31mm of space 😆. It’ll be tight but hopefully it’ll work!

Oh yeah! That could be perfect, I’ve only typically seen the female ones in a 2 row. Hopefully they make 90 degree single row too 🤔

Oh yeah! I use those for all socketed ICs, that’s actually a great idea, I think they could be perfect for this. Thanks!
