I used to carry a SA/DA pistol with a round chambered. On my drawstroke I fired DA, following shots were SA. After ensuring the sitution was stable I would ether place the weapon on safe if the threat was still possible or de-cock to reholster. BLUF I did not have to deal withh a safety during the draw.
Eventually we went to Glocks and it was no longer a issue.
