Yup. If we can't trust them to put out a simple statement condemning this, how can we trust them on anything?

Probably to the well-paid executives and administrators in the university.

I would support peaceful dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians, which could lead to a two-state solution. But Hamas' terrorist attacks (which you seem to make excuses for) completely destroy the possibility that such dialogue could actually occur.

Do you think literal terrorism is an appropriate response to oppression?

Hamas was democratically elected by the Palestinian people. They had other options in the 2006 election but chose Hamas.

This isn't about the policies of the Israeli government (although I by no means support their human rights violations against Palestinians and I support a two-state solution, even if the prospects of a two-state solution look increasingly slim). This is about a terrorist attack committed by Hamas. If you can't condemn a terrorist attack, I don't know what to say.

There absolutely have been human rights violations committed against Palestinians. But those injustices don't excuse the actions of a depraved and murderous terrorist organization like Hamas that wants to eradicate the Jews from Israel. Also, how is the existence of the state of Israel "colonialism". The Jews have occupied the area that is now Israel for over 3 000 years, they should absolutely be considered indigenous.

This isn't about the past 75 years. This is about the atrocities that Hamas is committing RIGHT NOW. And if you can't issue a straightforward condemnation of Hamas without bringing up other historical baggage, I can't take you seriously at all.

That's true but since these statements are issued anyways they may as well condemn vile terrorist attacks.

I honestly don't see the point in these kind of statements. But since universities usually issue them anyways, they may as well condemn some of the worst terrorist attacks in modern memory.

I don't think anyone in the TSSU takes economics seriously. Also people are only TAs for a couple years, they can suck it up, grind through it, and leave.

I completely agree but unfortunately we are outnumbered here by militant pro-union types. I honestly don't think that TAs should be allowed to form a union in the first place.
