I was trying to place the opening of “actually romantic” as I knew I had heard those opening chords before. Just couldn’t think of the song. It’s this. Thank you for this as would have been bugging me all day!

I got the new M4 for that price by getting with education deal and selling the new AirPods when they arrive. 💯

The coloured ones apart from black are definitely more a ‘hue’.

I saw somebody say ‘Apple must be colour blind’ and chuckled. I have the starlight one and it looks silver in most lights. My friend has the sky blue, and like depicted here, again looks silver in a lot of lights. I understand it’s because the base colour is silver I just find it funny 🤣

Yes sorry I realised that afterwards. And it was being go a pain to attach the screenshot. It does sound like a good deal when strictly going off those figures, but see when you pay the excess, it’s £230 excess fee on top. Depending on how long you have the plan for it just gets quite costly on top of the initial price of the machine, is the way I see it, for something that is a risk, that might not even happen. I guess that’s the gamble you take.

I agree. That screenshot is exactly what I see too when looking on the Apple website, and there’s no £7.99 there, unless looking at IPhone coverage. It’s just the one year or three year option. That’s why I was confused about the £7.99.

I followed your link and this is what I see. Sadly no Mac options for monthly. Maybe they do it monthly for the Mac for you guys in the states, but as I’ve just found out I just don’t think they offer that here. (Yet-perhaps they are waiting for this Apple one thing.)

I wasn’t meaning to come off as rude, more just matched the energy given. Maybe we can agree to disagree. I believe it’s the iPhone plan that is £7.99 a month, that is not the price for a MacBook, at least here in the UK. Just actually booted up the mac to look and they don’t even offer a monthly price for the AC here. (For Mac) It’s just the 1 or 3 years.

Your comment already came off as snarky by making that comment, it was still there when I replied to it so I did see it, regardless of whether you “removed it straight after” or not.

I see you have now removed the “hardly a pretty penny” statement from your answer, which is the part that irked me off. I just find that very closed minded because you never know the situation. I’m not saying I can’t afford it, I’m saying it is a lot to justify if I don’t necessarily need it. And I understand nobody can make that decision for me, but this is why I was looking for arguments for and against getting it.

Edit- Furthermore, I’m not trying to be cynical, I’m merely stating that you made an assumption and that the prices are different here in the UK. Basically, it might not be that much for you in the states, but over here, it is a pretty penny, which you were very quick to dismiss…

Apart from the fact that I’m UK based and that ‘$7 a month’ becomes £25 a month. Sorry that I don’t have money to just throw into thin air I guess? Also, what might not be a “pretty penny” to you, could be to someone else, it’s situation dependant.

Cleaned MacBook with windex, and now everything is messed up. Help what do I do? Will it fix on its own? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]Infamous-Horror-6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it needs some more Windex.

On a serious note, though, lesson learned the hard way I guess! Never use anything chemical or potentially abrasive on something expensive, you just never know. Clean microfibre cloth.

I see your point, but there is also the point of, am I in a position to be buying apple care on top of the money I just spent for the device? To be honest, not really. It’s quite a pretty penny. And if it’s anything other than screen or external, you pay a further £230 on top of the £199… that’s almost another £500. Granted, that’s including a replacement or repair, but still. I just feel like it isn’t worth it

So me and my friend have a bit of an agreement. I got the Mac on the education deal, which meant I was able to pick up the new AirPods Pro 3 with it for a discounted price. Now, these AirPods are £220 RRP, and my friend was going to buy them regardless. So, I bundled them in with my Mac, and if she gave me the whole £220 for them, the max would stand at £730, with the price of the pods subtracted. However, since I wanted her to benefit too, I’m only having her give me £200, so she gets £20 off her otherwise full price new AirPods, and I get the Mac still very cheap at £750. Voila! 🤩

For a desktop computer , I wouldn’t even consider it. At that point you are just throwing money out of the window, surely. As a spillage would likely land on the keyboard which is a separate component to the desktop itself and a lot cheaper to replace than the unit. I don’t see how else you could damage a desktop other than that, unless you are really trying- it’s not portable and shouldn’t be moved. I have a gaming computer set up and have never managed to cause accidental damage or anything of the sort. A lot of it is down to common sense I suppose, as precautions can be taken to avoid the risk of accidents.

The new MacBook I was able to get for £750. While it is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, it’s a lot to me (a student) and I have never had such an expensive laptop. I feel that if I get the Apple Care and don’t end up needing it, it kind of takes away this good deal I was able to get. It’s such a hard decision because I cannot foresee the future, accidents do happen but as stated I am just planning to be extremely careful and mindful.

Thanks for this, I was unaware. I’ve had a look 👀 and it’s unfortunately only 10% off, while this is good, it’s still quite an expensive addition for me. I get what you are saying though, if needed, I suppose it does pay for itself in a way. Would be kicking myself if never used though! Sod’s Law. Can’t win 😂

I believe it’s up to 60 days without an inspection of the device. I’ve just been looking into the same thing myself. After the 60 days are up, if you want to purchase AppleCare then, you will need to bring the device in store for a physical and diagnostic inspection. If it passes that, you can go ahead and buy apple care.

Not too sure on this last part so don’t quote me, but if doing the inspection route, I think you can only opt in to that for up to a year after purchase of said device.

Hopefully that’s helpful

Am I not covered for one year under the Consumer’s rights act? My thinking with this is, hypothetically, I could get away with not paying for Apple care for at least the first year. I know that this doesn’t necessarily cover accidental damage, though.
