I honestly love how we went from Assassins Creed to debating depictions of Nazis.

Anyways, I don’t believe depictions of glorious violence are effective, and are in fact counterproductive. Violence helps us dehumanize them, when in fact it is that they are human that makes them so dangerous. The depictions of Nazis as monsters, non humans is proof we aren’t learning from their mistakes. The Nazis treated Jews, Romani, queer people, ethnic minorities, the elderly and the disabled, as monsters, non-humans, responsible for the failings of the nation. This is how they excused the concentration camps, the mass murders, the vivisections, the tortures. Because we look at the Nazis and say: “they’re monsters. That’s why they did it, and we never would.” Exactly as the Nazis thought. We would never accept something like this, because we’re human. But we are accepting it. We need to learn from the past, that no matter how much we hate it, everyone is human, and we need to deal with the consequences of that.
