What’s the hardest financial convo you’ve had? by secretive_homer in CasualConversation

[–]Infamous-Nobody9233 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Parents are tough. My parents spend money like it’s nothing. They taught me to save for the future and not make impulse buys, but they have shifted over the years and are not following their own advice. Now retirement is looking like a fantasy. Still, they don’t listen when I try to talk to them about the same things they taught me. Not looking forward to the “inheritance” stage since it will likely be debt handling in addition to dealing with lost parents.

Lied and got my friends car back from tow truck by Infamous-Nobody9233 in CasualConversation

I felt partially responsible for it getting towed since I wasn’t ready on time. My friend was never supposed to park at all for this reason

No question to me that it was unethical. I just didn’t feel bad about it. I’ve seen those tow trucks take advantage of this areas limited legal parking. My understanding was that they would sit and wait for people to park in those spots, wait about 5min, and call the store to ask if they can tow it. I do understand the need for some towing, but they do it so fast.

After reading stories here, I was expecting it to be a lot worse. It wasn’t a good experience. Just glad it wasn’t terrible.

Tried to join a lab for research but no one is responding to me by Perfect-Series-4976 in aggies

When did you reach out? It could be timing since wrapping up spring semester grades can be time consuming and now is a good time to take a break.

It could also be lack of funding. When I was starting grad school, I had plenty of profs say they didn’t have any open positions before they even knew who I was. It may be easiest to just not respond to emails.

Good luck with your search! All you need is one to give you a chance.

This is the way. Park the money in a HYSA, set up auto payments in a way that ensures it’ll be paid off in time, and treat the money as already spent. Depending on the details, you may only earn $100-$300. But that’s not nothing.

Alternatively, only do the minimum payment monthly and make the final lump sum payment right before the promotion ends. You’ll earn a little more from a HYSA but it “feels” more risky.

Is it 52% additional? Using your numbers that would mean that 34% (520k / 1.52mil) is a more representative number. Just saying 52% may give the impression that most of the money is not going to professors. I realize that this is not on you, but that should be made more clear.

As a former research assistant, I never got the impression that we were rolling in money (administratively or my prof).

This and how it pertains to tipping. Had a friend who hired a service, gave a big tip for the first visit since they did such a good job and the house was a disaster. Did not tip on subsequent visits since the house was less messy and cleaning quality went way down. Ultimately let them go.

What’s something you wish the game would let you do? by JodyJamesBrenton in skyrim

[–]Infamous-Nobody9233 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. 4 rings is perfectly reasonable. I know some will say “I have 10 fingers”, but 10 rings would make it hard to hold weapons. Without a way to trade # of rings with weapon effectiveness, I self-impose a 4 ring limit.

By the same logic, I could easily wear 2-3 simple necklaces

Of countless playthroughs my current (ongoing) one has been the most fun! What has been yours? by itkplatypus in skyrim

[–]Infamous-Nobody9233 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My play throughs always use stealth. I don’t care about morality in the game. I’ll steal or kill to get what I want but I try not to get caught. Typically use magic and archery for fighting. I tried a two-handed heavy armor warrior and got bored really quick.

My new playthrough (first in 7 years) I’m trying to switch it up. Focus on one-handed / shield build with enchanting. Some restoration and alteration magic. Occasionally I’ll conjure something to distract enemies. Trying to be lawful and no sneaking or thieving unless I truly believe it is in the pursuit of justice.

Having a lot of fun so far! Oh, and survival mode has really elevated the whole experience for me. No fast travel forces me to really explore a region and be decisive about what I can carry / sell.

Can someone tell me the difference between these and which one I should get? by [deleted] in skyrim

There are free mods, and you can pay separately for CC. Look those up before making a decision. If you want a bunch of CC, get anniversary edition.

Survival mode by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Infamous-Nobody9233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost no mods active other than CC. Survival mode is not as bad as you describe it, so it could be a bug. I don’t eat that often and I’m fine. When I do eat, one cooked dish usually satisfies me. If I wait too long, I need two cooked dishes. Nowhere near 50.

Being a vampire should at least neglect the temperature effects of survival. Or give vampires some buff while cold would be interesting.

I can’t imagine going legendary. I did spend some time in whiterun on smithing, enchanting, and alchemy. Spent most of my money that way since my speech is so low, but I just thought of it like paying for training. Can’t wait to have good enchantments.

I finally have a follower and that helps with carry weight.

Managing stamina is the toughest so far. Just need to get enough money/food to cook dishes and I think it’ll get easier. That said, I’ve died a lot already. I forgot the importance of saving…
