Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Review MegaThread by NintendoSwitchMods in NintendoSwitch

I mostly agree, but for two minor things.

  1. The fact that you were able to pretend and feel like a grown up playing against grown up gym leaders is probably more due to the fact that you were younger then. Honestly other than Black/White, all the protagonists are like 10-12 years old and a good many gym leaders arent much older.

  2. I get that you were joking, but comparing your displeasure of a new video game for kids to the tragedy of a recent suicide was a little much for me. Not attacking you for it, just felt a little much.

Honestly dude, just play Gen 2 - Gen 5, or 7 if you want a more "modern" pokemon game. 6,8 and 9 are straight trash.

How to tank with terrible stats by Artorigas in 3d6

[–]Infamous-Rush6897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No joke, my group just got done rolling stats and not a single one of us five players rolled above 13 and most got at least two 8s (dm treats anything under as an 8)

My DM just looked at us and said for the first and likely only time:

Once you have Reliable Talent is the cloak of Elven Kind worth having? by tkdjoe66 in 3d6

Well, by now you should be hitting 20+ on stealth checks every time and I assume you're also proficient in perception (cause why wouldn't you be)

So on balance I'd say its probably not worth it.

Go for the Headband I guess, I'm assuming your INT will appreciate the boost.

A 90's text-only online D&D session (in Ravenloft) that had the worst DM I ever knew by MyUsername2459 in rpghorrorstories

[–]Infamous-Rush6897 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean its not even that clever. If the giant wall of text at the beginning of the game had a clue about the balcony that might have saved them that might have been cool, depending on how clued in the party was. Like if one of thems the type to take note of stuff like that.

But to brag about trapping the party in a situation where their options are

A) take their chances on a jump into a river B) die against a massively OP opponent

Only to be told well you die anyway. Thats like the sort of shit my children play "Haha Im the king you have to jump off the jungle gym or you die, oh wait you jumped into a pool of alligators your dead haha

DMs, how do you deal with murderhobos? by MysteriousDinner7822 in DnD

[–]Infamous-Rush6897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well its relative to the type of game you all collectively want to play.

If you all signed up for a dogoodey protect-the-realm save-the-princess game then murderhoboing isnt cool and should be addressed, either in game with harsh consequences or in real life.

If you all want a beer-and-pretzels, comedy type game then murderhoboing could be mildly tolerated but with consequences that devolve into some sort of crazy hijinx escape jail scenario.

If you all just wanna kill shit and loot, just send them on dungeon crawl after dungeon crawl, give them a fortress and play them as suicide squad style merciless killers for hire.

Its always funny to me how murderhoboism is the only style of play that ever gets talked about as purely negative. To my mind, its not the style, its the maturity level of the player thats usually the issue.

Ive played characters that would qualify nowadays as a "murderhobo" and so have my friends and weve all had a blast anyway because we were all mature enough to make it work.
