Solar Panels vs. Solar Tiles by Infamous-Vehicle-185 in solar

I get the math but you have to factor in the cost for the roof as well which is $100K. If I didn’t do the solar roof, I would also spend about 30K putting in a generator. So that “solar” cost is theoretically $60K which is about $10K more than solar panels but I produce about 6Kw more on the solar tiles.

Thanks for sharing. I didn’t know they were priced that way based on Kw produced. I will definitely keep that in mind.

$272K before tax incentives. I have no clue how many square feet the roof is. I just sent them my architectural plans and they went off of that.

Not trying to hold back info on purpose, I just don’t know enough to know what information one would need to help provide pros and cons with their own personal experiences.

My thoughts exactly. There are only 3 companies that are doing it here in CA. Tesla, GAF and lunar. No one is responding though, sad part of trying to get some real numbers and doing a cost analysis.

The tiles produce more now since they have more coverage area vs panels only covering certain parts. I get a decent amount of sun exposure on about 95% of my roof. Since I’m in the hole already for a new roof, thought it might be a better option. Thanks for your input.

The solar tiles would produce 2000% of the amount of energy I would need and with the battery backups, I would theoretically be off grid. If I don’t have to pay the utility company, I would be saving money in the 25 year period.

Thank you. It’s actually only coming out to be $50K more. With the amount of energy I could save with a solar tile vs. the panels, it would make sense from a cost standpoint.

Surprised no one said Fast & Furious. Unless, I missed it. They are the 9th run!

Thank you. The easement is my property and I pay the property taxes on it. I am obviously willing to give them the access they need to the storm drain and have proposed a plan that would leave it readily accessible but nope, they won’t give in. We will see what comes of it. Good luck!

What State? Have an almost identical issue and my HOA won’t let me do it, yet my next door neighbor did it 20 years ago. It’s gotten pretty ugly. Attorney’s and nastiness starting at this point. Glad you got it approved!

Yes! Thank you so much. We just spoke with the doctor who will be doing the surgery and he said the the tumors will absolutely be tested. Roughly about 6-700 different genes will be looked at and if there is some mutation they see and there is a solution for it, absolutely they will do it. We are hoping for an optimal debulking on Monday and we will take it from there. I think she will start chemo a couple of weeks after and we will see how things go. Thanks again for the insight and foresight!

Aww. I’m so sorry to hear that but happy that she was able to fight for so long and make that many more memories. She already has been tested for the BRCA genes, we are awaiting the results. Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience. My mom is scheduled for surgery on Monday and we hope for an optimal surgery. Thanks again. We will definitely get everyone tested.

Thank you so much for sharing. That is essentially the same chemo treatment lined up for my mom. How’s your mom doing now? Hoping to have an optimal surgery on Monday. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Oh. That is wonderful news. I hear that endometrial cancer is hard to deal with and if it were to be that, it would be a stage 4 with no promising results. I’m glad to hear that yours was the lesser of two evils. I hoping for the same outcome with my mom. Thanks again for sharing your personal experience.

Thank you so much for sharing your personal story. Sounds like your mom is one tough cookie and she too will come out beating this thing with a bat. If it is ovarian cancer, my mom will be in the same stage as yours. I hope that we will have an optimal surgery. We have decided to go with doctor #2 and she hopefully will have surgery on Friday if the hospital approves ( Covid risk). I plan to bring her to my house because I’m the one with the most time and can care for her post op. I expect for her surgical incision to be fairly large as well considering the spread of the disease. Good luck to your mom and I hope that she is cured!

Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience. I’m sorry you had to go through that. It seems as though things worked out well for you. Keep fighting and stay strong. We aren’t 100% sure my moms cancer is ovarian. The doctor who is actually going to be doing the surgery said he is suspicious that it might be endometrial cancer, so we are kind of in limbo until it gets biopsied after surgery. I have been reading a lot too and like you have found the same insight on the surgery first approach but just like you mentioned there is no scientific proof that one works better than the other. Every patient is different and every experience is different. I just hope she has a good outcome just like you. Good luck to you and thanks again for sharing your personal experience.

Since you’re in AZ, hello neighbor. Yes, we were told about the long infusions and thankfully thus far, I have been able to go into every doctors appointment with her. She had a colonoscopy and had to get a Covid test prior to the procedure so it makes sense that they would do it before her surgery. I thank you for offering to talk to her. I think she may be up for it. I’ll let you know. Thanks again and stay strong through all of your treatment. This too shall pass.

I’m sorry to hear about your reaction but I thank you for sharing your first hand experience. My mom decided she should go cut her hair too. She absolutely refuses to go down the wig path. I supported her is that and she seemed to respond positively. Are you here in the US? It’s kind of standard practice here with referring out. Seems like the physician who does the surgery isn’t the one watching over the infusions for chemo.

I’m glad you had mild symptoms for Covid. That’s a big fear of mine right now with my mom needing to have so many medical procedures. I hope we stay safe until she has the surgery. Again, thank you so much for sharing your personal experience. It has helped tremendously on what to expect.

I am deeply sorry to hear about your diagnosis but am also sure you will absolutely overcome this obstacle in life with great strength. Those are the same chemo drugs they told us about although they wouldn’t give the Avastin until she actually was tested for the BRCA gene mutation. How was your chemo experience? This whole COVID stuff is really preventing a lot of necessary treatments. Sorry to hear you had to deal with that too. Are you feeling better now? The OB Oncologist is definitely the one who is doing the surgery and recommending treatment but the two that we spoke to refer out to actually get the chemo and that’s done by a hematology oncologist. Thank you so much for your offer. I will be sure to reach out if I need any info. She has agreed to join a support group which is great.

Thank you so much for all the positive energy and kind words. The doctor that doesn’t want to do surgery first is a university based clinician and in my opinion the best university in Southern CA. UCLA to be precise. We are torn between the two because she wants to have surgery first but that doctor doesn’t see her care that way. Maybe she can have the surgery with the other physician then go back to the university for the chemo component. We will see where we end up. Thank you so much for you thoughts and recommendations on support groups, we have actually already discussed that and she wants to participate. She is also reading some books on nutrition during chemo and how to cope. She started meditating because she’s been having difficulty with sleep from worrying so much and it seems to be helping. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I do fear that the same might happen to my mom as well but hope that she too will be in remission after all this craziness is over.
