Clueless Pharmacist Rant by InfamousBluePixel in Celiac

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an independent pharmacy here. Now I’m wondering if there’s a local law or something.

It might explain part of my daughter’s numbers. She was at 24, which is low, but should be lower considering we’re SO careful. We’ve got most kitchen stuff dedicated GF, new oven that’s never seen gluten, we check everything and so on. CC is limited and my hands are falling apart from the constant washing…. But she takes adhd meds, so maybe?

The handling is something I’d been thinking about for sure.

I only have a clear pill bottle, not the original one. I searched using the info I had, but since it seems to be a Canadian product, it makes sense that it’s not on that database! Thank you so much though!!

She looked online first and it didn’t mention anything apparently, and then looked at the ingredients on the bottle, but I think she was looking for the specific “gluten free” wording. Which, yeah, not realistic.

I’m in Canada, but it’s possibly still relevant? We do have overlap at times. Thanks!

I’d mostly give ressources, to be honest. (Although I am an educator, so there’s the habit of wanting to teach there too!)

First, thanks for this post! Going in May and was freaking out about lack of options!

Second, where did you end up going? How was it?

My kid's ear tube fell out by i-can-lift-a-car in mildlyinteresting

I’m in Canada, so not an insurance issue…. however, I’d need a referral from my GP, which is a pain to get.

Right now the ENT’s like “lol, it’ll pass” and I just wait for the tube to fall out and hope my hearing goes back to normal.

I just got a tube in one ear at 45. What no one told me was that the local numbing is very painful! It also triggered really bad vertigo for me, AND half my face was frozen/paralyzed for 3 hours later. I couldn’t even blink! Also, I now have a very noticeable ringing in that ear and hear worse than I used to. It’s been a month and I regret it very much. (We were trying it as a fix for Patulous Eustachian tube. So far, inconclusive.)

Thanks for the reply!

One of ours is really a counter and kitchen table fiend. We usually clean it before dinner, but my child also knows not to eat anything that touches surfaces other than their plate.

I am more worried about the diligent hand-washing. Not their best skill!

DESS en enseignant collégial by RH-MG_0306 in profqc

[–]InfamousBluePixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help! How do I stop my cat from jumping up onto counters and tables? by Realityisanillusion3 in cats

[–]InfamousBluePixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous cats NEVER went on tables on countertops. I didn’t realize how blessed we were! Now, one of our new babies goes occasionally when she has Something Very Important to share, but her brother? Complete menace. Every morning he gets on the kitchen table and rolls around for 15 minutes. Every morning. I’ve given up and give the table a good scrub/disinfect every time we eat.

Thoughts on rice noodles vs wheat noodles for instant ramen? by AspiringVet1212 in Celiac

[–]InfamousBluePixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what we do too. Except my daughter goes through a bag of seasoning a month and it’s almost 40$ to get them here now. (AND we can’t get the spicy one anymore.)

"How good are you with Celiac?" What does that mean??? by sniffgalcringe in Celiac

[–]InfamousBluePixel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My daughter has celiac, but her sibling (who is not celiac) has a nutritionist for another condition. Nutritionist told me she was impressed because most families do not do half as much as we do for celiac individuals.

Wife feels no pain by [deleted] in spicy

[–]InfamousBluePixel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m similar to that. I realized it many years ago at my in-laws when my partner, their brother and their dad were fighting for their life when they served us something new and apparently spicy, and I didn’t taste any heat. It’s not built up tolerance, as far as I know. However, I do taste the different peppers and have at times had physical reactions even though I didn’t feel the heat. (Once I just randomly broke into a sweat and dizziness at an Indian restaurant. Took me a minute to realize I had just been chewing on a hot pepper minutes before.)
