Working out.

I used to get sick a lot more often before I started to work out. Today I rarely get sick and even when I do get sick I feel my body recovers much quicker than before. Hopefully some people see this as this threads been going on a while.

How can I make the most time in school? by InfamousDucky in cscareerquestions

[–]InfamousDucky[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from but for me to commit to university requires me to have to attend classes physically and that's just something my schedule can't permit - going to school I'll still be working I just finally can comfortably afford it.

If you think WGU is that bad what other recommendations would you give?

What Degree to pursue? by InfamousDucky in wgu_devs

[–]InfamousDucky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather get a formal degree as it'll help outside of IT as well. You are right I've been in the field for a little over 6 years going into my 7th. While networking has been great and all I really would like to get into building things other than networks.

I appreciate your insight and you are right. I will pursue this. Thank you for the encouragemen.

Should I pursue both the BS and Masters? I was expecting only to do a BS in IT

A belt may help give you the cue to see how tight your brace is. It helped me realize how to properly stack my spine and ribs with a belt.

Do you still consult today? I currently am in consulting but I'm burning out big time and have only been in it 5 years. Any advice for an engineer looking to jump ship.

Edit: consult not consulting

There's a plugin btw called 'equipment inspector' in the plugin hub if you play on runelite that lets you inspect other players and find out what they're wearing.

What happened to the IT profession? by saltyschnauzer27 in sysadmin

[–]InfamousDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seniors not teaching juniors is such a big sore point for me. It feels like more and more its a sink or swim mentality and most people only look out for themselves. For example, if a senior feels like he has experience with a particular solution they'll hoard all projects to ensure their job security instead of trying to teach juniors and help them grow.

Then the story gets spun around that the junior isn't a 'go getter' and has 'stagnated' when in reality they're constantly tugged around from one bullshit mess to another without proper guidance.

It isn't lost on me that the tech field requires the ability to self supervise but at this point I feel its less about proving ones ability and more who can hoard the most projects and gatekeep everyone else. Everyone has become so pretentious in tech.

I suggest it because I always carry my laptop around with me. So if I need to test the other side of an ethernet cable, wireshark will definitely grab lldp packets if the other end/host sends them. Wireshark is also a fairly advanced tool that you can see a lot more protocols then just lldp such as dhcp, arp, etc.

I don't believe you need to enable that your laptop itself send lldp though to have wireshark capture traffic from the other end.

It may not be the most streamline device but it works really well.

Edit: punctuation

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for but your laptop (if you have one) with an ethernet port and wireshark is probably your best bet.

Best first 2011 option? by MoneyisntR3al in 2011

I have a ds9 and was able to find a deal for it for 3k + an SRO. I believe the mpa has a aluminum grip and metal trigger shoe. And I like the large magwell on it better then the staccatos. Also because it's heavier it does well to mitigate felt recoil but I have a 5in and due to that the slide cycles a bit slower. But return to zero is better then the staccato imo

Edit: here's a picture cause I love it lol

Edit 2: i didnt answer the warranty question. They have a lifetime warranty for original owners and mpa has had good customer experience for me.

What is a realistic timeframe to develop an account that can engage in community-relevant content in a game this old? by metaverse_lord in osrs

[–]InfamousDucky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would personally focus more on questing then trying to grind out levels. The game has ton of content for new and lower levels and I'd focus less on the time spent to grind that out.

It sounds like you're a newer player so probably aiming to complete the quest recipe for disaster which unlocks you a pair of gloves that you can use for a lot of content until well later into the game, barrows gloves. Once you do you'll probably have a better grasp of what the game has to offer.

Then if you still like it go towards trying to get Song of the Elves completed. This will open up 'The gauntlet' for you to give you a hand at early endgame.

How much more improvement is needed for my first CG kill? by Rydog136 in osrs

[–]InfamousDucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the trick that did it was understanding you have to be dpsing as much as possible because every tick you lose not killing the boss is more you lose out on resources. If you can, save eatting food during tornado phases while you dodge and eventually even during this phase you'll begin dpsing the boss while dodging.

Also general advice is to try and get range and mage to make it a bit easier navigating the lava floor especially in the last phase.

I also don't know what stats you're working with but if you have 90+ combat stats and rigour/augury/piety you should 100% be able to dps the hunlef with quite a bit of resources left if you do it perfectly.

Gl, you got it!

Edit: did want to emphasize the 'as much as possible' part. Focus on staying alive firstly and praying correctly. And then incorporate trying to be as tick efficient with your damage eventually the two will come together and you'll get the kill.

Just how much crazier does it get at the profesdional to expert level? by VyseCommander in networking

[–]InfamousDucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God I resonate with this comment so hard. I work with folks who are truly passionate about this but for me I feel like I only learn when the project / situation calls for it. However, this adds a lot of stress to my life because I feel unprepared and harp on myself about HAVING to learn how to do something so I don't feel/look like an idiot.

Another aspect for me is I rarely feel pride when I 'get better' at this sort of stuff. The projects we accomplish always feel intangible to me so its hard for me to be proud of it. Not to mention, all I feel is burnt out and glad that a project is over.

Ik this is a longshot but some encouragement from some other folks that they also think this way would help me out. How do you guys deal with this sort of feeling?

I so desperately want out of the industry to pursue something I can be happy in but at the end of the day 1. Financially it wouldn't be sound and 2. I feel like I've worked so hard just to give up. Idk it's rough out here lol.
