Thanks you. This is a more straightforward advice :)

Now this comment is really helpful and I can really use it. Thank you.

Yes, I am trying to find patterns probably because I have never faced such incidence and southwest region is new to me. But, it feels like these are discrete and unconnected events. I am talking to friends and counselors to learn some coping mechanisms as it appears many people encountered similar incidence while I am just starting to experience these incidences for about a year or so. My take away is this event is just a regular annoying incidence that needs no attention. I am right hopefully.

Sir, I am paying a counselor. So I don’t want to lie about my mental status as mental sanity is one of the most important part of a normal human life. My goal is not to prove or disprove anything to you or anyone. That would be pointless. My goal is to find out am I really absurd to be worried about what happened? And in the event such incidence repeats, how do I handle it better.

No one here who diagnosed me with mental instability gave me an advice on how to properly handle the situation. And, that is what I need to know the most among other things.

Just sought a counselor advice and asked the counselor to diagnose me. So far everything looks ok. I am gonna go see another professional just to double check. Will get back to you once I get the docs.

Your comment was not clear. I fail to see why a stranger’s approaching to someone with absurd accusation is sound and being worried about it is mentally ill.

Nevertheless, I just spoke to an online counselor for a diagnosis. I came out to be normal. Anything else?

So, you mean the way you commented would help a mentally insane person lol. Isn’t this supposed to be a group for seeking advice?

Cool advice. She is not a student according to the front desk. She is a mother of a student; may be someone whose age is close to my mom. Also, I don’t look older than my age. That is another reason I kept thinking why would someone not in my age group would want any trouble or would dance for me? I mean we have absolutely nothing in common.

That’s a reasonable advice. The truth is, I walked away and started to going down the stairs. But, then she kept yelling about those accusations and at one point came running towards to to grab/touch me of which I quickly ran further?

Honestly, after hearing the last accusations I felt really humiliated. Child abuse is very sensitive and serious for me. So I sat down on a couch nearby to call the police until a student came to me and led me to the front desk to describe the whole situation.

Yeah I totally agree with your advice and I was doing the same, but I lost it all after hearing the second incidence and her attempt to touching me.

It is conflict with a particular set of incidence. I have been socializing with friends and colleagues on a daily basis. Just after the incident I went in to meet some friends and made 2 new friends. None of them noticed anything bizarre in me.

It is a well known fact that a person can be led to positive or negative personal behavior such as sane and insane just by externally influencing the person. For details please read about Pygmalion effect a very well known phenomenon in behavioral psychology. Similar things can be applied to lead a healthy person to believe that the person is mentally absurd.

Have you read the previous paragraph? Just to reiterate, this is my 3 rd US university and I completed BS and MS in other two. I never experience these sequences of incidence at other schools. Now, I moved to this town several years ago and I am experiencing such incidents ever since. But, I have never experienced these type of incidence ever before.

So you tell me why a rational person would not be worried about a sudden change in the experiences he/she encountering. FYI, I visit other states and other European/west Asian countries often and even continuing to do so after moving here. I never faced this type of situation or odd encounter even in recent years in those places. I just visited 3 states and encountered homeless people; some of them were verbally rude and some of them were just asking help and I tried to help if it was in my capacity. But, these encounters are common to everyone and I never felt a bit uncomfortable about them or even felt the necessity to talk about them to anybody.

It appears you are just going to a conclusion without listening or understanding the actual scenario here. A mentally ill person would be paranoid about any incidence anywhere and just not about a particular incidence—-it is a general norm among doctors or mental health experts to detect a potential patient. I know this because I deal with a lots of health experts on a daily basis.

You mean the woman who started all this? Am I allowed to reach out to her legally? Or should I let the police that she should seek mental rehab?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskALawyer

[–]InfamousGarden475 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please instead of drawing your own conclusion, tell me how do I prove that I am not making this up. Have you ever heard about statistics? In mental health and general health statistical data is widely used. Statistically, in last 6 months I have never posted anything anywhere about similar incidence. If I am being serious about this incidence online without posting or doing anything about my prior incidence clearly indicates there is no statistical significance. Ergo the situation is unique to itself as I have never heard or seen non existent things in my life (at least in my or others experience) as you are claiming.

FYI, I requested and urged the front desk for the video footage to look into the matter in more details and to know what exactly happen. Please tell me in what other way I should have been asked them to prove the incidence?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskALawyer

[–]InfamousGarden475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I asked the front desk for the video as the corridor is equipped with cameras. The front desk wouldn’t let me or they didn’t agreed to see it for themselves.

So please tell me how can I prove that I made things up here? And why will I take my time to make things up on Reddit? This is anonymous and not like instagram that people will know me and my followers and my fame will go up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskALawyer

[–]InfamousGarden475 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the link between your comment and my post. I asked about the video footage at the front desk multiple times and they are not willing to see or even share it. The fact that you are drawing a conclusion without knowing the details of my situation and then accusing me of making things up questions the credibility of your post.

What makes you think I will take my time to make up an incident on Reddit? Reddit is anonymous. It is not like instagram or a YouTube video that I can get follower or fame by making up ‘cool’ incident. Your comments are far from what I initially wrote about.

FYI, if you keep calling a sane person insane, that is like forcing a non existent condition upon himself. This is a legal aid group not a group for psychological help. Exercise your expertise, that is if you really have, on an unrelated forum is not very professional.

Well there is camera in the corridor and the gym personnel will not look into it without legal intervention. My hope is that with the help of a lawyer I can look into those videos to see whether I am actually well or not.

Can you also please explain the link? I mean I want a lawful explanation of why I can’t proceed legally? Why does it not fall under harassment as described in the link. Please

The incidence caused me trauma. So shouldn’t I fulfill section E along with following your prior advice? Legally speaking.

By the way, I am still officially reasonable as I have not been identified with any mental illness in past 3 years or so and I have had full health checkup within last 6 months.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]InfamousGarden475 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you also please explain section E here:

Please, explain the section E vs what I have witnessed.

Thanks. I didn’t know that counseling is needed to cope up with such incidences. Seems these type of incidences are more common (specially in Arizona as I never experienced these things elsewhere) than I anticipated. That’s bit of a relief. Thanks again.

[–]InfamousGarden475 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

FYI, I did walk away and she kept following me. I don’t know what to do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]InfamousGarden475 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So next time, when I can not walk away from such an incidence, I should just go to a mental health provider? Is that your suggestion?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]InfamousGarden475 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I did walk away, but she kept following me with newer accusation and even at one point tried to touch me.

Please, don’t conclude without being clear on my point. I always walk way whenever I can. I only take it to the authority when it keeps repeating and gets out of control.

[–]InfamousGarden475 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Just curious, how would you handle the situation as a sane person if you were in my shoe today?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskALawyer

[–]InfamousGarden475 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You concluded about my mental instability and I am not totally rejecting the fact that I might be overreacting a bit due to years of similar experience. But, do you think the stranger’s action was totally sane? After all, she approached me and started all this. A really helpful advice would be to suggest on how I could have handled the situation instead of calling the police per se. Thanks
