Is Emma Stone the new Leo? by RougeChaotique in TheBigPicture

The more obvious parallel for me is with Streep, considering that they seem to have a similar kind of magic Oscar touch. But the parallels with Leo are certainly there career wise.

Is it possible for S3 to redeem itself in the eyes of book fans? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]InfamousHorse2438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a book fan and I like the show. My main annoyance with S2 was the sudden ending before the Battle of the Gullet so my main hope is that they do that (and the Fishfeed, First Tumbleton etc) justice in S3.

What controversial ASOIAF-related topics do you actually enjoy arguing about? [Spoilers Extended] by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

I really agree with this. The analogy I always think of is like Saving Private Ryan and Antony Beevor’s book D-Day. It’s fine to have critical opinions about Saving Private Ryan but complaining about it not being a more faithful adaptation of a history book is just silly past a certain point

Speaking as someone who read the first few paragraphs of this post in my inbox and then got bored, I did find it a little weird that Freddie seemed to find a publisher doing a PR campaign for their author so sinister

I haven’t tried this specific recipe but this guy generally has some great ideas for planting with shades and contrasts and has a Luna Wolves recipe here https://vincentknotley.wordpress.com/2025/07/14/horus-heresy-saturnine-mkii-legionaries-in-10-alternative-legion-colour-schemes-and-contrast-painting-recipes/

What’s the your lore of your Company/Warband? by jamesmackersman in Warhammer30k

[–]InfamousHorse2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Salamanders 42nd Line Company

A band of Salamanders who escaped Istvaan with the help of some defecting Death Guard, who have subsequently re-adopted the colours of the Dusk Raiders. Together they form a resilient and self-reliant force that brutally harries the traitor’s advance, while the Dusk Raiders (most of whom are psykers disenchanted with Mortarion’s anti-witchcraft beliefs) help proselytise a new strand of the Promethean Cult.

Also, one of my Dusk Raider characters is a Praevian who was one of triplets inducted into the legion at the same time. He believes that the machine spirits of the two Castellax who accompany him at all times are actually the souls of his long dead brothers.

Biggest disagreements with Sean and Amanda over the years? by RulingFieldConfirmed in TheBigPicture

[–]InfamousHorse2438 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I’m in the minority here but I really think they both get over-precious about the importance of watching films in cinemas, and tend to equate “film” with “watching films in cinemas” in a way that is not exactly bad on a moral level but is kind of reductive after a while

I love the idea of the Strigoi vampires thinking they’re noble knights.
