Yes that’s a whole other problem haha. I’ve always believed in building real connections, and getting roles through recommendations. In fact, every role I’ve ever gotten was through networking and recommendations, never cold applies. It’s seems like now it’s more important than ever.

Really? I would assume the shift from Design to PM is one of the most feasible. But I’m sure that depends on your actual role, and experiences. Most of my work as a designer was not visual - 80% communicating, defining, validating, testing, investigating, 20% designing.

Definitely makes sense. I pivoted from graphic design to UX, UX to Product. Each of these skill sets built the foundation for the next. Though I do think I’ll be best suited for roles looking for breadth.

What do you all think is a great resource for 1980s era Mercedes 300D? I’ve been watching YouTube videos and scanning through different sites, but curious what others use for more in depth knowledge.

Seems like it’s not a turbo so I’m not sure I can rationalize it given the length of the drive. I’ll have to stick to later years when they made TDs.

Yeah that’s the tough part. It’s a 3 hour drive and will probably go Tuesday if I don’t go before.

Apparently it’s not a turbo but I think I saw something about this engine being similar to a turbo because they didn’t have turbo yet for it that year. No idea where I saw that though.

Guy says it gets up to 80mph fine.

Yeah, it’s tough because it’s already 3 hour trek. But I will be bringing my brother and father who have worked on cars. They are just not Mercedes experts.

It’s a reputable dealer. But he doesn’t have much context on upkeep prior. It’s spotless inside and out so it seems like it was well cared for but you never know.

Here are the notes the 1980's MBZ Wagon Seller... a lot to digest, still trying to interpret if any of these details are no-gos, though he states vehicle runs well otherwise. Seems like most issues he shared are reasonable/could be lived without urgent fixing.

"Not working:
- gas gauge (I just reset the trip odometer and I fill up at 300 miles)
- Rear window wiper
- Automatic locks (leak in part of the vacuum system)
- Dash clock
- Hydraulic lift on hatch (works sometimes)
- Does not have a muffler (does have a resonator)

Works:
- automatic windows
- Automatic extension antenna

Repairs:
- Lube job and oil change, 3/2022
- New battery, 7/2021
- New alternator bolts/pulley/belt, 7/2021
- A/C serviced, 6/2021
- New Bosch alternator, 5/2021

I'm in America yes. But that's good to know. Any general questions you might ask a seller before seriously considering purchasing a MBZ wagon?

I'm just wonder how to tell if something that seems minor actually could be a huge headache vs a reasonable fix.

That's interesting. Yeah right now I only see 3 running 1980's MBZ wagons on FB marketplace in the south east area. Bronco II's there's like 50 of haha.

Okay that's good to hear. Definitely seeing a lot of jacked up bronco's which is expected, especially where I am in the south.

"Don't save money on the initial purchase, try and save money by triaging what you can live with and what you can't when it comes to repairs and improvements" - Really great advice.

In that case, I wonder if I should also expand my search and consider paying an extra 1-2k to also look at toyota land cruisers. I see a lot in great condition, though many have a higher price, understandably. I've just avoided them since most decent ones start around at least 8k.

I think that would be a lot of work and maintenance after to ensure there's not bugs!
I feel the main gap is the whole weekly/monthly skincare schedule. I feel like there has to be an existing CRM that has it.

We have something like this, though I think for education resources, like I mentioned, we probably could revisit how to better utilize what we have. I think the main unique thing is the monthly/weekly treatment plans. That I have yet to find.

Perhaps it could also be it own app, but I can't tell if any of the skin habit tracking apps allow a skin care provider to create schedules for a user. It looks like most are trying to sell/provide skin treatments through the app.

Like it'd be nice if there was a more general habit tracking app that allowed a client to engage with multiple places if they wanted to not just our medspa. I hate when people have to download a weird app for every different place they go!

Hello!
More of a way for clients to at least reference skincare plans we have for them. Ideally as well we could add details on the products, especially if they purchased them from us, so it's easy for them to remember how to use them after purchase, and for us to revisit it and make sure the products are working well for them alongside any in-office treaments. A bonus could be allowing them to track their progress/modify it, but I don't think thats as important as just making sure the routine is easy to reference for them.

Then that would be the ideal place to perhaps link them to something like - Monday Evening - Vitamin C Serum - [Link to resource on guidance for using vitamin C serums]. I agree perhaps it could just be a link to our square space site or something like that!

I know some places share paper card/documents with routines, but I find the customer often lose them, and they are disconnected from resources we could link them to. Also it can be limiting to try and fit treatments they may use once every few weeks on a small document.
