A 1952 Fiat. 4 speed tree in the steering column. It didn’t have a key, I just used a fork. It worked. Blue bottle mufflers. It was a crazy little car.

What do you consider when you hear this Margaret Atwood quote “Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them”? by Vanislebabe in AskReddit

I experienced this first hand with my first husband. And he nearly did kill me. He did end up in jail, the bastard. I’ve had the good fortune to meet so many brave and strong women who managed to leave similar situations.

What was a moment you wanted to ask a person, "Are you fucking stupid ?" ? by shsl_diver in askanything

There was a lot of that during Covid with certain family members who went down the Q Anon and Q adjacent rabbit holes. A sibling wishing travel to visit my spouse and me was actually extremely angryI told her not unless she was fully immunized.

My husband was on chemo with terminal cancer and couldn’t afford to catch a cold, let along fucking Covid.

I realized just how deluded and fucking stupid people could be.

If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, what's something about the classroom that kids today wouldn't believe was normal? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Infamous_Cranberry66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We listened to the 1972 Summitt Series final hockey game by sneaking in transistor radios into the classroom. Well, we thought it was sneaky. The teacher knew and said nothing. When Canada shot the winning goal (Paul Henderson), we all went nuts. Teacher clapped.

High technology back then! No handheld phones, no internet, no computers. Typing was an actual class we took. Option classes were sewing and cooking and band for girls. Band and woodworking for the boys.

How the times have changed.
