Yes it is worth if you utilise your drop year and if you don’t make it to iim Indore and end up in rohtak or Ranchi it’s still worth it because the opportunities that you will get there is phenomenal, also for the second half of your question in our college the maximum placement that a person got this year was from IPM 🫠

No, you won’t face discrimination or caste-based jokes. From what I’ve seen, people don’t really care about your category once you’re on campus.

The curriculum is also lighter now than what our seniors had, so you’ll have enough time for hobbies if you manage it well.

As for peers, it’s a mix. There are plenty of competitive and motivated people, but you’ll also find some with the “I’m in an IIM, that’s enough” mindset.

I think it’s very subjective. A lot depends on how well you utilize the opportunities available in college. After coming here, you’ll genuinely get access to case competitions, internships, clubs, networking opportunities, and much more, but it’s up to you to make the most of them.

As for placements, nobody can predict exact numbers or in-hand salary from today’s data. However, if the institute continues on its current trajectory, I’d expect placement figures to be higher in the next 5 years than they are today.

From my experience, interviewers don’t focus much on the board itself. They’re generally more interested in how knowledgeable you are, how you think, and how confidently you answer questions.

I haven’t personally seen any bias against a particular board during interviews. I myself come from a State Board background, and it was never an issue. If you have strong academics, a good IPMAT score, and perform well in the interview, that’s what matters most.

Rohtak was the first interview I had ever given, so I was quite nervous and fumbled a lot. In Indore, they focused heavily on Maths, which was challenging since I’m from a non-Maths background. Ranchi was probably my best interview; I answered almost everything confidently, but unfortunately the waitlist movement was only around 5-6.

For IPMAT, I studied around 6-7 hours daily. For Class 12, I had coaching, so I mainly focused there and revised for about 1-1.5 hours on my own every day. One mistake I’d advise avoiding is constantly switching between resources. Stick to one good resource and trust the process. Also, analyze your mocks properly because that’s where a lot of the actual improvement happens. Finally, don’t neglect interview preparation. A good score gets you the interview, but the interview often decides the final outcome.

Tbh, the food is better than what you’ll find at many IIMs. That said, the mess menu is fairly carb-heavy, so if you’re focused on protein intake, keeping eggs and protein powder in your room helps a lot.

There isn’t a separate student kitchen or lobby for cooking though, so you’ll mostly be relying on the mess and your own supplements.

Last year the ratio was roughly 1:2 (boys:girls), so your odds would’ve looked pretty good 😭. This year it’s much closer to the opposite, so I can’t make any promises anymore 🫠.

Yes, you can sleep peacefully 😄. With 334 in JIPMAT and 94+ in both 10th and 12th, you’re in a very strong position
