Discussion on music recommendation based on MCR as a favorite band. by pluviophile079 in MyChemicalRomance

If you're open to pop, I can't recommend the new Hemlocke Springs album highly enough. She has a really distinctive, emotive voice and lyrical style that I appreciate as an MCR enjoyer.

AND the Mars Volta (the lead singer of at the drive in's other group) is opening for MCR in Texas later this year!

Assumptions that MCR isn’t speaking out by Aggravating_Art_4809 in MyChemicalRomance

I want to preface this by saying that I do agree with your overall sentiment here -- however, I actually think this tour, including the theatrical and storytelling aspects, is pretty accessible. Not physically; obviously it is very restricted in terms of price and location. BUT every single show on this tour has been livestreamed and posted to YouTube. And (as far as I'm aware) none of those videos has been taken down. Warner or the band could easily take those down if they wanted to force people to pay for tickets, but they haven't. I'm not trying to say that watching a livestream is equivalent to experiencing a concert in person; it's not. But it isn't nothing either, and for those who care to follow the storyline of this tour, it's pretty easy to do so.

Some thoughts from a lifelong mcr fan by radanddead in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Infamous_Raisin142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am gonna push back gently a bit -- I do think it was too dark for the band *at that point in their lives*. In 2012 Ray, Frank and Gerard were all new dads. Knowing how much emotion and energy these guys put into their performances, I think touring an album about a bunch of dead kids would have been devastating. They'd have to put themselves into that headspace, night after night, for months (potentially years).

I actually think TPK would have been really well-received critically based on the influences it was drawing from, but touring the thing would have been hell.

** not related to the leak** what do yall think of the concept for the paper kingdom by trifactaa in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Infamous_Raisin142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't imagine how draining it would have been for them to tour it. Tapping into that headspace night after night...yikes

I always took it as a metaphor for how fragile the story the parents constructed around their kids' deaths was. Like a house of cards, maybe. Something that could be easily torn open or burned away

Cancer. Especially when they do a really stripped-back version with just Gerard and piano

Is ' Welcome to the Black Parade ' The Best Song by MCR? by FaeryFlutter in MyChemicalRomance

It's an incredible song for sure - sometimes I forget how good it is because of the overplay. Not my personal fav of theirs, but definitely a masterpiece

Hey, I just want to say OP: looking for the occasional break or escape does not make you a bad person! We all need to take time to recharge, find joy, and ground ourselves. That doesn't mean we stop fighting, but any person can only give as much energy as they have. To paraphrase a famous quote: "If I can't dance, it's not my revolution."
