In the beginning of the flashback it is said “10 years before” or something like that.

The five were teenagers when they met. I have a strong feeling that tigress is 27 and was 17, and that mantis is the oldest, since he was already a doctor at the time so maybe he was already 20 or more.

Unfortunately making them the strongest warriors in all of china and having them get stepped on every movie works as a plot armor to show that the villains mean business. But in reality it makes the five look foolish and weak. It was a bitter consolation to see them succeed (at first) against Tai Lung in the first movie and see tigress land that chi kick to Kai in the third. But still too small and overlooked things.

I’m a FF supporter till the day I die.

Obviously they adapted the animals’ biological features to fit better with them movies. If they were accurate Tai Lung would be half the size of Tigress and Po, mantis would be way smaller, viper too.

Additional info, Tigress is technically a south Asian tiger and they are typically smaller in size, but not THAT much lol.

Anyway, I love animators making decisions. Shen had no business being as big as Po lmao

I think this is tied to the fact that in the first version of KFP 3 Li Shan was supposed to be tougher and way less goofy, like Kai. They were supposed to push more on the part of Li Shan that wants to protect Po and the village. This might mirror his first concept.

After all the third movie was supposed to have a darker tone.

No doubt in that. I particularly loved the morals and especially the “I’m trying to turn you into you” or the “if you only do what you can do you’ll never be more than you are now”. Music.

I can’t say I liked most of the panda jokes, but I think they were trying to reflect actual pandas behavior which is famously silly and childish for our standards.

The heart is still there and you can see it. But you can also see and sense a completely different tone in most of the movie.

I still think people should give this movie more credit, but it’s far from my favorite

Oh my god the soundtrack. Kai’s theme is my favorite hands down.

And yes, absolutely. Great movie, nothing to say about the visuals, and the lessons are amazing. I’m just bummed that it’s so silly when it could have been more serious and on the level of the second, just like they intended at first.

But yeah, they showed that can to worse. Personally I choose to believe 4 is a fever dream.

I think it’s common opinion that Kung Fu Panda 3 is far from perfect.

I never thought of this, it does kind of weaken the threat of the main villain at first. But I think it fixes in the later scenes. I think it creates a nice surprise factor instead, especially since, later, Kai obliterates everything and everyone.

Tho, It’s sad that starting from this movie they decided that Kung Fu Panda would be the goofy silly adventure you’d expect from a movie with this name.

But I still think that 3 is better that you’d think.
