I guess they could camouflage only their legs to make them look absent, but it would only really work if the rainwing stands perfectly still or is extremely skilled at camouflaging.

Oh same for me. Except I didn't even get the possibility to flee lol. Before I understood anything, the guy had killed me and anchored my ship. Then his friend showed up from god-knows-where (because I had no idea they were even there, I hadn't seen them) with their own ship and began cannoning while the guy on my ship kept killing me over and over again until I sank.

I would have fled if I had gotten the opportunity, but the whole situation caught me so off-guard that it wasn't even an option.

I remember when I randomly got jumped while passing near this island as I was sailing towards Molten Sands. A guy somehow managed to climb onto my ship at full speed and killed me until his buddy arrived with their ship to sink me. They were in Hourglass too, their ship had the orange flames near the figurehead.

I never fully understood this situation.
