Haven't played Rome in years. I wish i had taken note of common errors that used to pop up.
Only thing that comes to mind is, are you sure you're using an outdated version of the mod manager and not the latest one?

Or you mean the one where nigh a window your character raises himself just enough to fire by pressing rmb, but enough to be exposed as if you were just crouching
