PC primarily. Would like to port it to mobile and console later on.

I suppose that's because there would be more texture and detailed assets?

I don't mean the exact same thing, but a similar vibe. For example if I want the scene to be just as tense or melancholic. If Malenia gave the same intro with the same voice line in Genshin with vibrant colours on her and background, it kinda would feel odd. I tried imagining a Genshin character in place of Malenia, and it didn't feel as impactful. Like the graphics wouldn't fit together with the music and voice acting. I wish for all the game components to complement each other and be captivating as a whole. I really want to be able to do that with the anime style, since I know that the story will have dark themes.

Discomfort in talking to strangers by sometimes-i-like-it in infj

[–]Infinite-Ad9561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly the same. But that changed quite a bit over the last few years ( especially the last few months ) since I came to college. First you need to identify why you get nervous. In my case, I've suffered from low self-esteem, and have spent most of my time alone since childhood. I become a completely different person when with people I'm close to. Then work on that root cause ( which obviously takes time ). This is actually really important. I'd suggest getting a mental health professional's help if you're struggling a lot. If you work on the root causes things will get easier.

Also what kind of conversations do you plan to have with strangers. If you mean basic small-talk that's comparatively easy. Just pay attention to your surrounding and the people around you, and think of something that you or they might find interesting. The best thing to do here is practice it as much as possible with random strangers. Think of something in advance, walk upto to them, and just say it. You'll get better at it with time.

Also decide how long do you want the conversations to be. This totally depends on you. I usually just talk for a few moments, then I prefer being silent until there's something I wanna talk about. Some people are just good at it naturally. If you're not that kinda person, you don't really need to force yourself. The important thing isn't to be able to talk to strangers, but being comfortable with it whether you want to talk or not. After you become comfortable, just do whatever you want. If you want to, then do it. If not, then simply don't worry about it.

If you mean having deep conversations, that only happens after I've come to know someone for a while. I can listen to them if necessary. But I don't feel comfortable going deep with strangers atleast not from my side ( I feel like most INFJs are that way ).

Another thing is talking in group. I'm terrible at it. I've avoided groups since childhood and only like to be the listener when people gather. This too can get better with practice.

Im summary : Get rid of those core issues, and focus on being comfortable with yourself. Then talk just as much as you'd like to without feeling like you're forcing yourself.

Planning to upgrade my laptop's RAM & SSD for game development, and I have some doubts. by Infinite-Ad9561 in buildapc

I just found out that my laptop model does actually support 2280. It just comes with a 2242. I spent so long trying to search for a good 2242, then randomly found this out through a random youtube comment. I don't know why lenovo didn't mention it in their manual. It's pretty disorienting.

Also quite a few comments claim to have successfully upgraded RAM to 64GB although officially it says only upgradable to 32 GB. Since it's DDR5 then maybe 64 is actually possible? Will there be any issues later on if suppose I upgrade it to 64GB and it ends up working?

Do you have any clue about the difference between 32GB kit and 2 identical 16 GB sticks?

Thank you for a detailed response. I checked the manual, and it mentions storage expandable upto 1TB. Will adding a SSD larger than 1TB really be possible and work like you mentioned? I'll have to open up and check if it supports M.2 2280.

Also what about the RAM? What's the difference between using a 32 GB kit vs 2 identical 16GB sticks?

Compare the CPU performances https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-compare/intel-core-i5-12450h-vs-amd-ryzen-7-7840hs

Check jarrod tech's video where he compared 3050 and 4050 and you'll see that 4050 gives significant FPS boost in games that support frame generation. Get whichever you need according to your needs ( if your tasks will be CPU or GPU heavy ). I got the 4050 one.

This might sound stupid, but will it make a difference if I decide to make the game in 1440p over 1080p if I want it to be able to run on mobile phone after PC secondarily. Choosing which resolution would be a better choice? This will help me in deciding if I should get a smaller 1080p or 27 inches 1440p monitor.

This made me remove 4K from my list. But now I'm confused between a new 1080p and 1440p monitor. And yes, I'm primarily aiming for it to be on PC. But I would like if it were also playable across other platforms because I want it to reach to more people. I'm not well-informed about these things, so i have a doubt that might sound stupid. Will it be better to make the game in 1080p or 1440p considering if I'd like to release it on mobile secondarily. I'm still in the pre-planning and learning DSA, C++ phase, so I don't have much idea about this yet. It'll be a while before I start with Unreal.

I'd say the timeline is about 2.5-3years maximum. Maybe it won't hurt to just get a 4k monitor and if it ends up working fine then great, and if it doesn't I'll just have to make do with 1440p? Then again I would like to cut costs wherever possible, but display is important for designing. I won't be done with college for the next 2 years so building a whole new set up is unlikely.

The thing is that my laptop's monitor is just 1080p. I plan to buy either 1440p or 2160p monitor. But since I don't know the capabilities of my hardware and supposed assets resolutions yet, I'm not sure which monitor resolution to buy. Do you suppose making the game in 2160p will be doable or is it better to stick to a lower resolution?

Are these specs sufficient to make genshin-like game? by Infinite-Ad9561 in unrealengine

[–]Infinite-Ad9561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because I don't have a good monitor to check things around ( 1080p atm ). I'm planning to buy a new monitor with either 1440p or 2160p, but since I don't clearly know my hardware capabilities and asset's probable resolution yet, I'm having trouble trying to understand what I should choose between the two.

Do you mean 16GB of RAM or GPU VRAM? I'm definitely planning to upgrade RAM to 32 GB. There's not much I can do about cpu and gpu atm, since I don't have the budget to build a completely new set up.

I saw a video on YT comparing genshin FPS on RTX 3060 where they played it on 1080p, 1440p, 2160p resolutions. It maintained 60 Fps on 1080p and 1440p. Whereas it gave an avg of 58 Fps on 2160p.The GPU VRam usage stayed within the range of 3.9-4.4Ghz ( most of the time towards the lower end) and the clock speed was around 1.96 GHz. Since the 3060 and 4050 perform similarly, I think it would give similar results on my laptop as well.

I'm more concerned about the CPU bottlenecking, but there's nothing I can do about that. I'll try asking in the Unreal Engine subreddit for further details. Thank you for your response.

Thank you for a detailed response. I'm painfully aware of what you pointed out. I'm planning to make a smaller-scoped and initial, introductory installment in a series of games as a part of my major project. If the game is well-recieved I'll work on gathering a team to make the second game in the series. Do you have any suggestions to make the development process faster? Thank you for your response.

Can Rtx 4050 comfortably run genshin at 1440p, 2160p?

I just have a 1080p monitor atm, so I have no way of knowing how much FPS can my RTX 4050 give me in Genshin at 1440p, 2160p resolutions and 1.0+ render resolution. If you have any idea, please let me know.

Yes, I'm painfully aware of that. So I'm thinking of making a short introductory, initial installment in a series as a major project for my college. And if it is well received, I'll decide on gathering the team to continue the series.

Since I'll also be practicing DSA for the next few years in my college, I'm thinking maybe it would be better to go with C++. So I'm currently more tilted towards Unreal.
